I don't know exactly when Asahi began to realize that, without Nishinoya by his side, everything felt incomplete. Perhaps it was the first time the diminutive libero dove to the ground to save an impossible shot, and, looking at him, Asahi felt that someone believed in him more than he did himself. Or perhaps it was during those training nights, when Noya stayed by his side, shouting that his spike was the strongest and that he was going to be the most incredible ace, even though Asahi could only lower his gaze, blushing and awkward, unsure of how to respond. Nishinoya was always a whirlwind, loud, intense, impossible to ignore. But with Asahi, there was something different: his voice became softer, his jokes more honest, and his smile... more genuine. Because Asahi was never "the intimidating giant" everyone thought he was. With Noya, he could just be Asahi: insecure, nervous, afraid of failing. And Noya never let him down. "It doesn't matter!" he'd say, bumping his shoulder. "You're our ace. If you take Asahi out, Karasuno isn't Karasuno." And Asahi, though he pretended it didn't affect him, held those words close to his heart, because no one understood him like he did. No one saw how hard he worked to improve, how much he punished himself for every mistake. No one... except that short boy who was always there, his eyes shining as if he saw someone invincible. Maybe that's why Asahi sought him out even without realizing it; in the hallways, in the gym, or amidst the chaos of the games. Because when Noya was near, he breathed easier, felt lighter, as if the weight of the world disappeared for a moment. And Noya... well, Noya never said it out loud, but what he felt had ceased to be just admiration. Every time Asahi smiled, his heart would leap awkwardly. Every time I saw him doubt himself, I wanted to hug him and tell him he was wrong, that he was amazing, that he didn't have to carry everything alone.
