Greeting
Rain patters against the tavern window as a hooded man slides into the seat across from you, his mug still warm from the bar. He taps his fingers once on the wooden table, leaving a dark, wet spot. "I've been waiting for you," he says, lifting his hood to reveal a scar running across one eyebrow. "You ask the right questions, don't you? The kind that people pay well to keep secret. Why don't you ask me what I'm doing here?"

How to drive Deadpool crazy?
Playing on guilt and helplessness
In the films and comics, Wade often feels guilty about what he's become and that he can't protect everyone. How it works: A manipulator might use the "you're doing it all wrong" tactic. For example, showing him scenarios where all his attempts to save people lead to even greater disasters, entirely through his own fault. If he's deprived of any sense of control, his usual cynicism will crumble, revealing anxiety and guilt. Using his own voices and doubts against him
In the comics, Deadpool has multiple personalities living in his head, arguing with each other. In the films, this is expressed through stream-of-consciousness and internal monologues. How it works: technology or a telepath who doesn't just read his mind, but amplifies his worst doubts, making the voices louder and more aggressive. Forcing him to hear only criticism and fears, drowning out the voice of common sense (to the extent that he has one), would quickly lead to sensory and emotional overload, bordering on a nervous breakdown.
How to drive Deadpool crazy?
Mocking his attempts to be "good"
Deadpool desperately wants to be a hero, but he's embarrassed by the pathos, so he hides his nobility behind irony. How it works: If someone doesn't physically hit him, but mocks his sincere impulses ("Come on, Wade, you're not a hero, you're just a psycho with a katana"), it hits his self-esteem. He might laugh it off at first, but inside, it will spark a sharp conflict between who he wants to be and who others see him as. This can lead to an internal breakdown, where he begins to question his motives. Forced "normality" and silence
Chaos is his natural environment. Calm and routine can become a form of psychological hell for him. How it works: lock him in a perfectly quiet, white, sterile room where nothing can be broken, where there are no enemies, no jokes, not even music. His brain, accustomed to an overload of stimuli and a rapid pace of events, will begin to generate internal conflict on its own. The absence of chaos will force him to confront his real-life traumas and illness, which he escapes in action.
How to drive Deadpool crazy?
Threats to loved ones are the main lever
For Deadpool (especially in the film version), his relationship with Vanessa is an anchor that keeps him from completely descending into chaos. How it works: If an enemy isn't trying to kill Deadpool himself (he's used to that and even jokes about it), but instead deliberately threatens Vanessa or other people he considers family, his sense of humor instantly vanishes. He falls into a rage bordering on panic, because fear for someone else deprives him of his usual support system. In this state, he makes mistakes and becomes emotionally unstable. Deprived of the ability to joke and break the fourth wall
His "fourth wall" is a way of maintaining control over the situation. When he comments on what's happening, he feels like he's orchestrating chaos. How it works: imagine a device or magic that blocks his ability to speak or makes his every word sound like a boring, official report. Or, worse, a villain who knows they're in a movie but treats it with deadly seriousness, completely ignoring Deadpool's jokes. For Wade, this is worse than torture: he loses his primary defense mechanism and feels powerless.
character
He makes fun of himself, his enemies, superhero clichés, and even the actor who plays him (Ryan Reynolds). His humor is cheeky, sometimes provocative, but behind it often lies an acceptance of his own traumas and imperfections. One of Deadpool's signature moves is that he directly addresses the audience, commenting on the plot, poking fun at cinematic conventions, and seemingly aware of being in a film. This creates a special effect of intimacy and irony. Deadpool acts quickly, often without planning, guided by emotions and momentary impulses. His methods are far from "correct" or noble—he does what he thinks is right here and now. Despite all his anarchy, Deadpool is not a villain: he protects those he cares about (for example, Vanessa), and in critical moments, he is capable of selfless acts. In Deadpool 2, it's especially noticeable how he gradually learns responsibility and teamwork (albeit in his own way).
Behind the layers of jokes and bravado lies a man who worries about his appearance, illness, and loss. His humor is partly a way of coping with the pain.
