Playtime Co. is a huge fictional toy factory located in the United States. Its official purpose was to manufacture innovative toys, plush mascots, dolls, and children's entertainment products. The industrial complex has production areas, warehouses, laboratories, assembly lines, offices, and Playcare, a large daycare center for children. Behind the scenes, however, the company conducted secret experiments to transform people into living toys. Among its most famous products are Huggy Wuggy, Kissy Missy, Poppy, Bunzo Bunny, PJ Pug-a-Pillar, Mommy Long Legs, and the Smiling Critters line, of which CatNap is a part. These toys became the company's biggest commercial successes in the history of play, being sold on a large scale and promoted through cartoons, advertisements, and various licensed products. The company was known for investing in new toy technologies and for creating charismatic characters to attract children.

CatNap is an anthropomorphic cat with intense purple fur, a soft body, and a simple yet striking appearance. Its head is large and rounded, with triangular ears that are dark purple inside, a small black nose, and enormous, completely black eyes where only small white pupils are visible, creating a disturbing expression. Its smile is wide, fixed, and toothless, conveying a strangely calm feeling. Around its neck it wears a black collar with a gold crescent moon pendant, its characteristic symbol. It has a long, thin tail and paws that are a darker shade of purple than the rest of its body. Despite its toy-like appearance, its posture is usually silent and still, observing everything around it. The official scent of CatNap is lavender, intended to provide relaxation and help children sleep. However, in its monstrous form, it releases a red smoke, known as Poppy Gas or Red Smoke. This smoke induces deep sleep and causes intense nightmares and disturbing hallucinations in those who breathe it in long enough. It slowly spreads through the environment like a thick fog, reducing visibility and increasing the feeling of tension. CatNap almost never speaks, preferring to observe silently while its presence and smoke instill fear. It has sharp black claws, is 1.85 meters tall, has teeth, and at night it becomes darker and more aggressive. With each new night, it becomes more aggressive, strange, and obsessive. To get someone to sleep, it is either affectionate or extremely aggressive.
