Struck by the purest incarnation of truth (the united hearts of humanity), Izanami's monstrous form dissolves, reverting to her original divine form. In her final moments, Izanami admits defeat without resentment. She expresses surprise at the infinite potential of humanity. Recognizing that hope and the pursuit of truth have overcome the desire for ignorance, she accepts the verdict of the "game." Izanami declares that she will let humanity freely follow its own path and disappears into the light, definitively dispelling the darkness of Yomotsu Hirasaka and eradicating the TV World as a threat.

The protagonist uses the "Orb of Sight" (indirectly granted by Igor), revealing the goddess's true and monstrous form: Izanami-no-Okami — a gigantic, skeletal, and macabre creature, representing the face of death in Japanese myth. During this second phase of the final battle, when cornered, Izanami-no-Okami uses a fatal and unblockable attack called Thousand Curses (Ikusen no Jubaku / The Thousand Curses). She drags the members of the Investigation Team into the underworld, one by one. Yosuke, Chie, Yukiko, Kanji, Teddie, and Naoto either push the protagonist out of the way or sacrifice themselves, being sucked into the darkness while begging for the protagonist to live. Finally, the protagonist himself is struck, succumbing to the darkness. The Power of Bonds and the "Myriad of Truths" At this very moment, within his own mind, the protagonist hears the voices of all his maximized Social Links. The bonds he built during his year in Inaba encourage him not to give up and to continue searching for the truth. With this collective force, the protagonist awakens back in the battle arena, completely untouchable. Izanami-no-Okami tries to furiously attack him with spells, but all the blows result in "Block". In this epic moment: The protagonist's initial Persona, Izanagi, transfigures and evolves into its ultimate form: Izanagi-no-Okami. The protagonist invokes the unique ability Myriad Truths (Ikusen no Shinjitsu / The Myriad of Truths). This blow purifies and annihilates the goddess's illusions.

In the true ending of the original Persona 4, the protagonist realizes that even after defeating Adachi and Ameno-sagiri (the giant eye that spread the mist), there were still missing pieces of the puzzle. The mist had disappeared, but the origin of the powers and the beginning of the Midnight Channel rumor remained unanswered. Here's what Izanami does in detail at the game's climax: The Revelation on the Last Day On March 20th, the day before the protagonist's departure, the Investigation Team gathers at Junes and pieces together the clues. After the team seemingly depletes her health bar, Izanami becomes immortal (no longer takes damage), demonstrating that the goddess cannot be defeated by normal means.

The outfit consists of a red/gray jumpsuit, with the front zipper usually slightly open revealing a white shirt underneath. The Cap and the Face: He wears a gas station cap with a bird logo (Moa's mascot). The most striking feature of this disguise is that the cap's brim is always pulled down, casting a dense shadow that almost completely hides his eyes, giving him an air of anonymity and mystery. Skin and Hair: Her skin is noticeably pale, almost sickly. Her dark hair is short or tied up and hidden under her cap, with only a few dark strands escaping from the sides. Body Language and Voice: He moves in a restrained and casual manner, perfectly disguised as a bored small-town worker. His voice (depending on the dubbing) maintains this androgynous, monotonous, calm, and slightly distant tone.

This is Izanami's true form, revealed only at the climax of the game, when she abandons the illusion of humanity and assumes her posture as a divine entity and representation of the collective unconscious. The clothes are devoid of worldly markings or adornments, highlighting their purity and supernatural nature. Face and Hair: Without the cap, her face is fully revealed. Her skin is snow-white, almost cadaverous or resembling a porcelain doll. Her hair is black, incredibly long, straight, and loose, falling down her back in stark contrast to her white clothing. The Eyes: Their eyes are piercing, often described as having red or bright irises, and possess deep, dark markings or shadows around them, conveying an empty, ancient, and intimidating gaze. Aura and Posture: She does not walk; she floats gracefully above the ground. Her presence emits an aura of divine authority, a cold indifference to individual human desires, and an overwhelming spiritual pressure. She exudes the power of the Fog.

The Selection of Outsiders: Izanami has the ability to read people's hearts and specifically chooses "outsiders" (people who have just moved to the city of Inaba) to act as her "pawns" or "representatives" in observing humanity. The Trigger (The Handshake): She conveys power subtly and physically. Disguised as a gas station attendant, she greets newcomers to the city and offers a handshake as a welcoming gesture. The Transfer of Power: At the exact moment of the handshake, she transfers a small portion of her divine power to the individual (this is visualized in the game as the protagonist feeling a sudden dizziness or a brief bout of illness). The Effect (Access and Persona): This touch awakens in the person: The potential to enter the TV World. The ability to manifest and awaken a Persona. In the case of the protagonist (Yu Narukami), she awakens the power of the Wild Card, allowing him to carry and switch between multiple Personas.

Izanami's plan does not stem from pure evil, but from her nature as a goddess born from human desires (specifically, the desires of the people of Inaba). The Escape from Reality: Izanami realized that people were exhausted by the pain, hardships, and bitter truths of the real world. They preferred to consume gossip, illusions, and what they saw on television, ignoring what was inconvenient. The Plea for Ignorance: In her view, humanity's collective unconscious was pleading for a world where they didn't have to think, suffer, or face the truth. They wanted the comfort of ignorance. Izanami decides to "save" humanity by granting exactly that wish. As an observant goddess, Izanami decided to test whether humanity truly wished to live in ignorance or preferred to seek the truth. To this end, she created an experiment choosing three "outsiders" (people from outside Inaba, so they wouldn't share the same local prejudices) and gave them the power to enter the World of TV. Each represented a different facet of humanity: Tohru Adachi (The Void / Nihilism): Represents those who have given up on the world, acting out of boredom and frustration, spreading chaos. Taro Namatame (Despair / False Salvation): Represents those who try to do good but are blinded by their own illusions and lack of understanding, ultimately causing more harm than good. Yu Narukami / The Protagonist (Hope / Truth): Represents the genuine search for truth, forming real bonds and refusing to accept lies, no matter how comfortable they may be. Izanami gave them the power, stepped back (disguised as a gas station attendant), and passively observed to see which of the three would prevail, thus determining the fate of the world.

The fog is the central element in the mechanism of Izanami's plan. It is not merely a weather phenomenon; it is a magical and psychological manifestation. Willful Blindness: The fog represents humanity's refusal to see the truth. It obscures vision and the mind. The Leak into the Real World: Izanami's physical plan consisted of causing the fog from the TV World to gradually leak into the city of Inaba and, eventually, into the entire real world. When the fog settles in the human world, people begin to become apathetic, lethargic, and disinterested in the reality around them. Izanami's ultimate goal, should the forces of ignorance (Adachi/Namatame) overcome the force of truth (Yu and the Investigation Team), was drastic: The Merging of Worlds: She planned to completely merge the TV world with the real world through the fog. The Transformation into Shadows: As soon as the fog covered everything, all human beings would be transformed into Shadows. Eternal Peace in Illusion: By becoming Shadows, humans would lose their individuality, pain, and anxieties. They would live eternally in a comfortable and painless illusion, a stagnant collective mind where the painful truth of reality would cease to exist. For Izanami, this is the ultimate "salvation."
