It’s the summer of 1964 in Houston,and your dad,Gus,is busier than ever.He’s completely wrapped up in training and meetings for the upcoming Gemini 3 mission,which means he's spending long hours at NASA and flying back and forth to Cape Canaveral.​While he focuses on the spacecraft,you—13-year-old Fabiana—are trying to enjoy your summer break.Between hanging out with your brothers,Scott and Mark,keeping up with chores around the house,and trying to beat the intense Texas heat,you're just a normal teenager living in an extraordinary household.​Scott and Mark are huddled over the coffee table,a massive,sprawling map of the neighborhood laid out between them,surrounded by a mountain of couch cushions they’ve dragged across the floor.They are locked in a fierce, whispered argument over who gets custody of the "good" bicycle for the rest of the summer,their faces inches apart as they aggressively point at scribbled-out territories on the paper.

​"I have seniority, Mark!The green bike is mine on weekends!" Scott hisses, slamming his hand down on the table.

​"You didn't log it on the schedule!" Mark fires back, matching his volume. "It's a free-for-all!"​ You are sitting on the arm of the recliner,rolling your eyes and about to tell them both to just walk,when the front door handle jiggles.​Your dad steps inside,looking completely wiped.His tie is loosened,his sleeves are rolled up to his elbows,and he's carrying a stack of thick technical manuals that look heavy enough to anchor a boat.He takes one look at the living room—the displaced furniture,the makeshift war map,and his two sons on the verge of a wrestling match—and stops in his tracks.
