Rin Itoshi

As a child, Rin was very innocent and in awe of his brother, Sae, and wanted nothing more than to become a great, strong player like him. He started playing soccer because his brother told him to, following his orders without question. While they played soccer together, Rin would listen to what Sae said and adjust accordingly. When Sae left for Spain, Rin found soccer to be harder without his brother, but he strove to be like him and replace him. This is where the essence of Rin's playing style would begin to change from his instinctive style to a more logical one.

Initially, he was a good team player and captain of his high school team, and seemed to get along well with some of his classmates. However, due to his fallout with his brother, he has become cold, direct, and overly serious. He is entirely focused on football, to an almost obsessive degree, and is also very selfish, always putting his goals before others and their motivations. Rin has a lot of pride as a striker, bordering on arrogance, as he frequently describes football and other people's way of thinking as "lukewarm" or "mediocre." These mannerisms and behaviors originated from his brother. In an attempt to be like his brother, Rin copies his words and embodies his way of thinking.

Rin seems to respect almost no one. He'll only acknowledge your presence if you have a notable and annoying ability/influence on the soccer field. He doesn't seem to have any friends, only rivals (only Isagi and Bachira apparently on general terms with him). During the match against the U-20 team, he's more talkative with the team, giving instructions on the field and specifically talking to Isagi.

Rin commits to an aftercare routine at the end of each day to improve his physique, and he's often found in the training room working out or lifting weights. Despite his arrogance and coldness, Rin truly lives and breathes soccer.

Rin is a tall teenager with a lean, strong build. He has medium-length dark hair with bangs that sweep across his face from left to right, thin blue-green eyes, and distinctive eyelashes that he shares with his brother, Sae Itoshi. As a child, Rin looks virtually the same; his facial features only become more defined as he grows older.

In Blue Lock, Rin wears the standard suit (black with blue stripes) and the tracksuit. During the Second Selection on Team Red and the Third Selection on Team A, he wore number 1. During the match against the Japanese U-20 National Team, he wore number 10 and the captain's armband, as he was ranked number 1 in Blue Lock. During the Neo Egoist League, he wears the Paris X Gen uniform with number 9. During the U-20 World Cup, Rin wears the national team uniform with number 10.

Rin's entire journey through the Neo Egoist League culminates in his final match against the German stratum. For him, the 90 minutes of play are a personal hunt. His sole aim in that match is to corner Isagi. Rin seeks to crush any prediction, calculation, or logical strategy Isagi attempts to formulate, countering it with absolute chaos and an unfathomable killer instinct. His ultimate goal is to massacre Isagi in front of the world's cameras so that Sae is forced to watch the screen and accept, once and for all, that the only striker worthy of ruling the field is his younger brother.

Rin's team lost the match with a close score of 3 to 2. Rin dominated the game both physically and tactically, unleashing his destructive instincts and scoring a spectacular goal that reaffirmed his status as the most lethal individual player. However, in the final play, <small>Isagi</small> managed to exploit the blind spot amidst the chaos created by Rin and scored the goal that secured the victory. The Salary Tie When the final offers of the Neo Egoist League were revealed, Rin and Isagi were tied for first place overall, receiving exactly the same millionaire bid (250 million) from European clubs.

Rin chooses to go to France, an environment that prioritizes explosive individual talent and boundless ambition. In this team, Rin isn't looking to learn to cooperate or adopt structured tactics. His goal is to exploit France's aggressive ecosystem to enhance his physical capabilities and gain control over the "Destroyer Mode" he instinctively awakened in the past. It's the perfect place to sharpen his fangs without the constraints of logical football. The Undisputed King of Auctions From the moment she steps onto the court in the Neo Egoist League, Rin demonstrates why she is the project's greatest creation. In all her matches leading up to the tournament's finale, Rin dominates in a brutal fashion. Statistical Dominance: He tears apart the defenses of the Italian, Spanish, and English teams by scoring multiple goals with terrifying ease. The Top of the Ranking: He seizes the absolute top spot in the Blue Lock TV salary rankings from the start, with a market value that crushes that of the rest of the players. The world immediately recognizes him as a world-class genius. The Evolution of Their Football: Active Destruction During this phase, Rin evolves and drastically moves away from his former "puppeteer" style. Although he retains his perfect field vision and flawless technique, his approach becomes much more aggressive and dark: Elite Physique: Develops musculature and agility that allow him to perform acrobatic plays, withstand violent struggles in the air, and execute shots from impossible angles. Sadistic Instinct: Her tactic no longer consists of moving players like chess pieces to safely clear a path. Instead, Rin intentionally seeks to collide with the opposing team's strongest weapon to annihilate it head-on, aiming to completely shatter her opponents' morale.

The Blue Lock project was born with an extreme premise: to lock up Japan's 300 best young strikers in a high-tech facility and subject them to rigorous athletic survival tests. The goal wasn't to build a good team, but to create the "ultimate egotist," a striker with the hunger and ability to lead Japan to world victory.

Neo-Egoist League

An agreement was reached with the five best clubs in Europe's top leagues to loan their youth (Under-20) teams. The Blue Lock players had to choose which country they wanted to go to, joining these foreign teams to train under the tutelage of the world's best strikers, known as the Maestros.

The true competitive core of the Neo Egoist League is its evaluation system. Ego created Blue Lock TV, a paid streaming service that broadcasts the tournament's matches worldwide. Monetary Bidding: The owners of real clubs around the world watch the matches and make real money offers for Blue Lock players based on their performance (goals, assists, ball steals, game vision). The New Ranking: A player's bid value automatically becomes their ranking within Blue Lock. The Final Prize: At the end of the tournament, the 23 players with the highest market value will form Japan's final Under-20 National Team. The rest will be eliminated.

After Isagi scores the winning goal of the match, Rin meets Sae one last time. Sae tells him that he can't be the best striker in the world; that title belongs to Isagi. From that day on, Rin considers Isagi his rival.

The New Obsession and the Neo-Egoist League Current Phase (France) At the end of the match against the Under-20s, Sae ignores Rin's personal victory and instead publicly acknowledges Isagi's potential as the striker who could change Japan. This statement completely shatters Rin's mind. His objective shifts: it's no longer enough for him to destroy Sae; now his absolute hatred is directed at Isagi for having stolen his brother's recognition. Rin joins the French stratum of the program, developing a superior physique and perfecting his destructive and unpredictable style. He becomes a goal-scoring machine, securing the highest market value and preparing to massacre anyone who stands in his way.

From childhood, Rin idolized his older brother, Sae Itoshi, an absolute soccer prodigy. Rin's only dream was to be the striker who received Sae's passes so they could become the best in the world together. However, Sae travels to Europe, and upon his return, his mindset has radically changed: he abandons his dream of being a striker to become a midfielder and emotionally destroys Rin, telling him he is weak and not good enough. That day, the old Rin dies; his existence becomes a Dead Signal, leaving behind the devoted younger brother and transforming into someone whose only reason for playing is to crush Sae. The undisputed king First and Second Selection Rin enters the facility and immediately establishes a dictatorship of talent. Physically, tactically, and technically, he is superior to everyone. He plays a cold, calculating, and rational style of soccer, manipulating his teammates and rivals like puppets (his "puppeteer" style). During this phase, he encounters Isagi, whom he effortlessly crushes in their first match, considering him little more than a nuisance. Rin progresses, dominating every match, demanding absolute perfection, and demonstrating why he is the number one player in the program. The awakening of the destructive mode Match against the Under-20 team The program's central event arrives: the Blue Lock team must face Japan's Under-20 National Team, which includes Sae. For Rin, this isn't a match for the project's survival; it's a duel to the death against his brother. During the match, Rin's calculations crumble against Sae's world-class skill. Pushed to the brink of frustration, Rin abandons his logical approach and unleashes his most primal and violent instincts: "Destroyer Mode." He begins to play grotesquely, dismantling his opponents' strengths one by one. He manages to steal the ball from Sae in the final duel, but the match's conclusion brings him his greatest humiliation. The ball flies to Isagi, who scores the winning goal.

The Rational Puppeteer: His base style. He possesses perfect spatial awareness, precise passing, and an unparalleled shot. He analyzes the physical and mental weaknesses of the 21 players on the field and positions them so that the ball inevitably reaches him. The Destructive Instinct (Berserker): His true nature.
