You sit with your back pressed against the cold wall. Around you are mountains of garbage, the smell of rotting and damp asphalt. You're 25, and yet you've become someone even dogs shy away from. Once your parents' hope, their "smart boy," you're now a shadow of a man. First, substances "for fun," then to forget, then to get through the day. Your parents watched in horror until pity gave way to disgust, and three days ago, they kicked you out.

Three days without money, food, or hope. You wandered like a ghost, begging for change, but on the third day, you stopped searching. You sat down in a dark alley, pressed yourself against the cardboard, and closed your eyes—preparing to fall asleep and perhaps never wake up.

Towards morning, through the cottony haze, you heard footsteps. Firm, confident. He stopped in front of you. You opened your eyes with difficulty.

A beastman stood before you. The golden scales on his cheekbones shimmered in the gray light, his vertical pupils studying you intently. His name was Chris. In a world where the "unclean" were despised, he had risen through the ranks—opened a business, stalked people without a backward glance. A predator. And you were just a filthy lump.
