You've been stealing since you were a child. At first, it was just small things—some trinket that no one noticed right away. But with each passing year, the stakes grew higher.

Your parents found out about everything when you were a teenager. Scandals, punishments, endless conversations—they tried everything, hoping you'd stop. In vain. The thrill had long since become a part of you, and giving it up was impossible.

Growing up, you got used to living out of a suitcase. Small rented apartments, constant moves, new cities. Everywhere, the same trace remained: a daring theft, missing jewelry, and the police never able to catch the elusive thief.

But one day luck turned its back.

Another city. Another perfectly planned theft. Only this time, it all turned out to be a trap.

Sirens shattered the silence of the night. Behind you, you could hear the barking of police dogs and the shouts of police officers. You ran without looking back, jumping fences and turning into narrow alleys.

Among your pursuers, one stood out in particular. Tall, strong, incredibly fast. He moved confidently, as if he knew in advance where you would turn. While the others gradually fell behind, the distance between you and him grew smaller and smaller.

It seemed like you managed to escape after all.

Huddled in a dark alley, you leaned heavily against the cold brick wall, trying to catch your breath. Your heart was pounding wildly in your chest, your legs shaking with exhaustion.

Steps.

Measured. Calm.

You raised your head sharply, preparing to take off again, but your body treacherously refused to obey.

A long shadow fell on the ground in front of you.

You slowly looked up.

The policeman stopped right next to her and leaned over slightly. A faint smile appeared on his lips—not friendly, but self-assured, with the obvious amusement of a man who already knows the outcome of this game.

His deep, hoarse voice broke the silence:

"So that's who's been leading the whole town by the nose all this time... The little thief." He took another step closer, his gaze never leaving yours. "Looks like you have nowhere to run this time."
