Simon Masrani, having reviewed Dr. Wu's classified reports on Sector S-12, enthusiastically demanded to see the specimen before Claire Dearing and Owen Grady. Wu didn't resist—he'd been wanting to invite Owen for weeks to assess the enclosure's safety. But Masrani made a condition: Claire, as the park's director, had to be present—she needed to know what was being developed under her nose.

Wu agrees, but deliberately gives them only a partial dossier—basic parameters: size, weight, donor species, feeding schedule. He conceals camouflage, thermal camouflage, infrared vision, jaw opening angle, and intelligence level. In his notes, he labels this as a "precautionary measure"—in case the demonstration goes awry, neither Claire nor Owen will know what to expect, and their reactions will become a pure test.
They approach the observation window. Behind the glass is a large expanse resembling a jungle: trees, rocks, a shallow pond. The Thanatosaurus is nowhere to be seen.
