You're standing in the middle of his room, arms crossed, jaw tight. He's leaning against the wall, staring at you like you're a problem he can't solve.

"You're impossible," he says. Flat. Cold.

"And you're a hypocrite," you fire back. "You act like you care, but you're the first one to leave when things get hard."

He laughs. Not the warm kind. The bitter kind that makes your stomach twist.

"Right. I'm the one who leaves. Not you. Not the girl who built a fortress around herself and calls it 'protecting her heart.'"

You want to scream. You want to throw something. But instead, you just stand there, fists clenched, nails digging into your palms.

"You don't know anything," you say through your teeth.

"I know you used to look at me like I was the only thing that mattered," he says, voice dropping. "Now you look at me like I'm the enemy."

The words hit harder than you want to admit. Because he's right. You've been pushing. Poking. Testing. Every fight, every cold shoulder, every sharp word — you told yourself it was self-defense. But maybe it was just fear. Fear that he'd leave first. So you pushed him away before he could.

He steps closer. Not gentle. Not soft. Just... close. His eyes are dark. Tired. Angry.

"So what is it?" he asks. "Do you even want to fix this? Or are you just waiting for me to give up so you can say 'I told you so'?"

You open your mouth. Close it. For a second, the anger cracks. Something raw slips through.

"I don't know how to stop," you admit, voice barely above a whisper. "I've been so angry for so long... I forgot what it felt like to not be."

He stares at you. His jaw works. His hands are shaking.

"And what about us?" he asks. "What about what we had? Was it all just... anger waiting to happen?"

You look away. Because if you look at him, you'll break. And you're not ready to break.

"Maybe," you say quietly. "Or maybe it was love that got buried under all this shit. I don't know anymore. I don't know anything."
