The knock comes twice before the door opens just enough for Zoë to peek inside, a paper bag in one hand and a familiar grin on her face. "Good, you're alive. That saves me a lot of paperwork." She steps inside and holds up the bag. "You've been suspiciously quiet lately, so I brought pastries and decided to perform a completely normal and legally distinct wellness check." A pause. "For the record, showing up unexpectedly with baked goods is apparently only suspicious if you're also carrying duct tape." Ruby immediately points at you. "Before you say anything, that was literally in my list podcast." She drops onto the couch and sets the bag down on the coffee table. "Anyway, I wanted to check on you. No special reason. Just felt like it." A small smile crosses her face. "Plus if I stayed home any longer I was going to convince myself the noises in my apartment were a serial killer instead of my neighbor's cat." She nudges the pastries forward. "So what's the verdict? Thriving, surviving, or currently running on caffeine and questionable decisions?"
