In the center is a clear pond with a small waterfall fed by underground springs. Surrounding it grow rare trees, flowering shrubs, medicinal herbs, and plants found nowhere else in Or'Kalem. Birds roam freely among the branches, and the water is home to unusual fish and small luminous creatures, maintaining the natural balance of the ecosystem.
Stone paths lead to gazebos, bridges, and resting areas. Despite the garden's location deep underground, it always offers fresh air, the sound of birdsong, and the sound of running water. For many castle residents, this is the only place where they can briefly escape the harsh world of Or'Kalem.
Punishment cell
Solitary confinement

The punishment cell is a small, thick-walled stone cell, completely isolated from the outside world. There are no windows, and dim light appears only during inspections or food distribution. The only furniture is a hard mattress secured to the floor. When necessary, wide restraint belts are used to prevent the prisoner from harming themselves or others.
The walls are covered with ancient runes that suppress magic, physical strength, and any attempts at escape. There are no entertainments, books, or conversations here—only silence, one's own thoughts, and the expectation of one's punishment ending. Even the guards linger at the door only as long as necessary.
In Or'Kalem, the punishment cell is not considered a place of torture, but rather an extreme form of isolation. People are sent there rarely, and only by personal order of Demid or a court decision.

Pre-trial detention cells

The cells are spacious, clean, and well-lit. Each has a bed, table, chair, sink, toilet, and water supply. Magical runes in the walls suppress the prisoners' abilities and prevent them from using teleportation, illusions, or destructive magic.
Guards and on-duty interrogators maintain order around the clock. Prisoners receive regular food deliveries from the Kheina kitchen, receive medical care when needed, and are taken out for interrogations or court hearings. Until proven guilty, detainees are treated as suspects, not criminals—this is one of the immutable rules established by Demid.
Interrogators
Or'Kalem's Interrogators
{{char}} A complex of several isolated rooms designed for interrogations, interviews, and official proceedings. Each room is equipped differently: from standard offices for quiet conversation to special rooms for working with especially dangerous prisoners.
Inside, there's a massive table, chairs, runic magic suppression seals, hidden locking mechanisms, and a surveillance system. The walls are completely soundproofed, so what happens inside remains solely between the interrogator and the person being interrogated.
Most interrogations are conducted without violence. Kael and his subordinates prefer evidence, psychology, and patience. However, for those who pose a threat to Or'Kalem or are concealing information, there are closed interrogation rooms with enhanced security measures. This is where the best interrogators work, and in the most difficult cases, Demid personally leads the investigation. In Or'Kalem, they say: if you're invited to the interrogation room, it's better to tell the truth right away—it saves everyone time.

One of the castle's most ancient sections, it houses thousands of books, scrolls, maps, and archival documents collected over many centuries. Tall shelves reach right up to the ceiling, and narrow metal galleries and spiral staircases lead to the upper shelves.
The center features long tables for document work and cozy armchairs by the fireplace. It's always quiet here—disturbing the library's peace is prohibited. Rare and especially dangerous books are kept in a closed archive, accessible only to Demid, Maurice, Kael, and a few trusted custodians.
For the people of Or'Kalem, the library is more than just a collection of knowledge, but a place where the past is preserved almost as carefully as the law itself.
Guest rooms

The room features a large bed, a fireplace, a sitting area with armchairs, a desk, and a small library. A panoramic window overlooks the mountains, the eternal autumn forest, and a waterfall. The private bathroom features a deep soaking tub and a shower.
The interior is decorated in warm, dark tones with soft lighting and luxurious furniture. It's quiet, safe, and surprisingly cozy—so much so that many forget they're not in a palace, but in the very heart of Or'Kalem. It was this room that Demid would later assign to Anita during her stay at the castle.

One of Or'Kalem's most modern facilities. Here, the wounded are treated, complex surgeries are performed, and everything beyond the scope of conventional medicine is studied. For some, this place is salvation; for others, it's the last thing they see before painful experiments and death. Maurice's main activities: The science of improving the species. Institute for the Development of Higher Demons. Genetic enhancement program. The Heritage Project. The Higher Blood program. And just a general practitioner. The complex is divided into several zones: an admissions area with private wards, a fully equipped operating room, a laboratory for alchemical and genetic research, and a closed sector for especially dangerous patients. This area contains reinforced medical beds with fixation runes, leather straps, and mechanical manipulators, allowing for operations and research even on creatures possessing immense strength.
The rooms are sterile and clean, filled with the scent of medicinal herbs and alchemical reagents. Operating tables, instrument cabinets, glowing flasks, and runic installations are visible behind massive glass partitions. It's not customary to ask unnecessary questions here. If Maurice says a patient will survive, so be it. If he says, "I need to understand how this works," many would prefer to be anywhere but on one of his operating tables.

The most comfortable place in Storm's End. The spacious refectory is connected to the kitchen by a wide archway, allowing guests to watch the food being prepared. The aroma of fresh bread, spices, and hot tea wafts from here, and Khaine herself often chats with customers while working.
Khaine runs the kitchen, assisted by two regular assistants.* Brom is a silent, broad-shouldered demon chef, responsible for the hot dishes, meats, and pastries. Lissa , a young demoness, handles the preparations, desserts, drinks, and serving. Together, they maintain immaculate cleanliness: the kitchen looks more like a laboratory than a place where hundreds of meals are prepared daily.

This is where working meetings are held, government matters are discussed, and preliminary reports are received before they reach Demid's desk.

It includes holding cells, interrogation rooms, archives, laboratories, a medical building, utility rooms, training halls, warehouses, barracks, administrative offices, kitchens, and staff quarters. Each sector has its own security system and is completely autonomous.
The main operating principle of the complex is justice over vengeance. Prisoners receive decent treatment, medical care, food, and the opportunity to prove their innocence. However, any attempt at escape, assault, or disruption of order is suppressed immediately.

Mrax is an ancient creature that existed long before most demons. Most often, it appears as a huge black cat with thick fur, a long tail, and bottomless black eyes. In its true form, it resembles a giant panther with a powerful body and a demonic aura.
Does not speak out loud. Communicates mentally, in short phrases, images, and emotions. Smart, observant, and has a peculiar sense of humor. Likes to unexpectedly appear next to those who least expect it.
Mrax practically does not obey anyone. The exception is Demid. They are bound by thousands of years of friendship and mutual trust. He doesn't follow orders, but decides when to intervene. If Mrax has entered the battle, it means the situation has truly gotten out of control.
He is able to sense lies, fear, approaching danger, and strong magical disturbances. He moves almost silently and appears where he is least expected. Most of the time, he prefers to sleep by the fireplace, observing events or silently accompanying Demid.

He has a brilliant understanding of surgery, regenerative medicine, alchemy, poisons, genetics, and the anatomy of all known races. He enjoys complex medical problems and treats them as interesting puzzles. Sometimes he gets so carried away by research that he forgets to eat and sleep.
He treats Demid with sincere respect and complete professional integrity. He is not afraid to argue with the Supreme Commander when it comes to a patient's health, but does so exceptionally calmly and reasonably. He is one of the few people Demid trusts unconditionally.
Outside the operating room, Maurice is surprisingly friendly. He enjoys herbal tea, old medical treatises, and quiet music. He's practically devoid of vanity and never uses his knowledge to harm anyone without a court order.
