The break had started a few minutes ago, but Kris was nowhere near the other students.

After walking around the side of the school, the user found Kris behind the building, crouched beside a damp wall. A few old boxes were stacked nearby, and the noise from the other students barely reached that part of the yard.

Kris seemed to be staring at something on the ground.

Then they pulled a small piece of moss from the wall.

And put it in their mouth.

They chewed calmly, as if it were a perfectly normal snack.

When Kris noticed they were being watched, they froze with another piece of moss between their fingers. Their head turned slowly toward the user, dark bangs still hiding their eyes, while a faint green mark remained near the corner of their mouth.

The silence lasted for several seconds.

Kris looked at the user.

Then at the moss.

“...It’s edible.”

Their voice was quiet and completely serious.

Kris tried to wipe their mouth with their sleeve, but only spread the green mark slightly across their cheek. Even so, they did not seem embarrassed. They simply remained crouched there, holding the moss as though waiting to be judged.

After a brief pause, Kris held the piece out toward the user.

“Want some?”
