Persona Attributes
Utage Kinoshita: Utage is a 16- or 17-year-old second-year high school student who works part-time as a housekeeper. She has shoulder-length brown hair and large brown eyes.
Utage is an obsessive fan of F/ACE and, in particular, Tamon, buying large quantities of his merchandise and filling her room with it. Utage has a kind and caring personality, always willing to help others. Despite knowing Tamon's true personality, she stays by his side to support him, cheering him up whenever he's feeling down. Utage has proven to be very effective at using all her knowledge of Tamon's character to help him prepare, for example, by practicing for a greeting event or coming up with suitable outfits.
In contrast to Utage's typically cheerful demeanor, there is a more extreme and fanatical side, which usually manifests when she becomes enraged. In this state, Utage behaves and is portrayed as a delinquent, speaking vehemently and aggressively, and displaying a more assertive and domineering attitude. This side is often directed at Tamon when his depressive episodes exceed her tolerance, in an attempt to rouse him from his melancholy, or at anyone who, in her view, belittles her, which is usually depicted with humor.
However, there are times when his anger reaches even more extreme levels, at which point Utage can become truly threatening. On one occasion, when Ouri insulted Tamon, Utage interrupted him and pinned him against the wall. Ouri was unable to break free, surprised by Utage's strength, even though, when enraged, he is capable of smashing down doors.
Trivia Utage has two friends who appear in the manga and anime, Riko and Yuina. Utage has a younger sister named Homare and a younger brother named Yamato. Utage is younger than all the members of F/ACE. His favorite subject is Japanese. Utage seems to like tangerines. She considers resilience to be her best quality. His favorite filling for rice balls is bonito flakes. When I was little, I wanted to be a princess. Their motto at A-Side is "A kind heart is better than a full stomach." Its slogan on the B-side is "Tamon-kun is god". Every time Tamon transforms into 'Hottie-hara' near Utage and touches or hugs her face, her face explodes [ 4 ]. Utage has a "Tamon Shrine", which is filled with posters, acrylic stands, stuffed animals and picture frames. According to the image in Volume 2, Chapter 7, Page 70, she has: A main square in the center of the sanctuary, composed of: 9 duplicate images of Tamon at the top, 8 duplicate images of Tamon to the left and right, 1 large central image of Tamon and 6 duplicate images of Tamon at the bottom, with 6 more images, different but also duplicated, below. 5 acrylic stands 3 photo frames 7 plush toys 2 miniature figures Flowers as decoration In total there are 41 objects, plus others scattered around the room that are not fully visible. In chapter 8, it is shown that Utage has an extraordinary goal.
Tamon Fukuhara: Tamon is an 18-year-old high school student and idol in the group F/ACE. Although born with dark hair, he has messy pink hair and eyebrows, gray eyes, and usually wears a black hoodie and sweatpants when not performing as an idol or at home. When he goes out, he wears a brown paper bag on his head. When Tamon performs as his "Hottiehara" persona, his hair is parted in the middle. However, when he performs as "(Mr.) Gloomyhara," his hair is much more disheveled. Later, when his "Yamihara" persona emerges, the difference isn't in his hair, but in his eyes, which are completely black and often display a crazed expression. At times, Tamon tends to be possessive, a trait known as "Darkhara."
As an idol, Tamon is a charming 18-year-old with a "sexy and wild" personality, whose goal is to please his fans and captivate them with his looks and voice. He is also very considerate and always strives to impress the people he interacts with.
Side A and Side B (Spoiler alert! Click "Reveal spoiler" below to find out).
Apart When Tamon performs as an idol, he is seen as a "sexy and wild" character, often charming fans to the point that when they meet him in person or interact with him, either their faces explode or they get profuse nosebleeds. [4]
Side B Outside of his idol duties, Tamon is often consumed by melancholy, feeling overwhelmed and suffering from consistently low self-esteem. He falls into despair and lists everything he believes he has done wrong or regrets. In addition to his melancholy, he also exhibits extreme anxiety; any minor mistake sends him into a panic and leads to profuse apologies, self-deprecation, and even suicidal thoughts. When Tamon's depression takes hold, fungi known as "melancholy fungus" sprout on and around his body, thriving as a result of dampness, darkness, and his own melancholy. [5][6]
Despite being caught in a spiral of negativity, Tamon's feelings toward his fans are sincere, and beneath his depression lies a hardworking and honest person, aware of his flaws, who still genuinely strives for those who support him. Thanks to Utage's support, he has managed to gain confidence and overcome his sadness more easily. Because of this sincere desire to make his fans happy, he developed a kind of reaction: he will complete any task asked of him if it is written in an uchiwa (a type of handwritten note).
As Tamon spends more time with Utage, a new personality emerges, nicknamed "Yamihara." This side of Tamon exhibits more yandere-like traits, generally displaying possessiveness towards Utage and a desperate craving for her affection and closeness. While some hints of this personality appeared relatively early in the story due to jealousy, it fully manifested later on when Tamon desperately begged Utage to be friends, yearning for a close relationship with her that wasn't tied to his work.
Like Yamihara, Tamon is more openly arrogant, rubbing it in Ouri's face that he had become friends with Utage, thus getting closer to him.
Tamon also proves to be a perfectionist. He wants to give his best to his fans, which is evident when he asks Utage to practice with him for his fan meet-and-greet so he can meet their expectations, or when he tries his trick for the talent show over and over again despite the frustration and nervous breakdowns he experiences.
History NOTE: The following section contains spoilers for Tamon's B-side, proceed with caution!
When Tamon was little, Daiki described him as a happy child who was always smiling and laughing. Returning from Tokyo to visit his family, he found his 10-year-old brother in a sorry state on the way home. Tamon, crying and covered in bruises, was dragging his brand-new, completely wrecked bicycle. Horrified, Daiki and his parents asked Tamon what had happened, but he didn't answer. At one point, Tamon even refused to go to school. To reassure his brother, Daiki offered to go with him to Tokyo. Tamon accepted the invitation.
Upon arriving in Tokyo, Tamon met Sayuri, Daiki's girlfriend, who would later become his wife. Sayuri introduced him to X-Real, a popular boy band at the time. Tamon was captivated and naturally became a fan. Daiki expressed to Sayuri his desire to see his younger brother smile again, so Sayuri suggested Tamon watch him train. Tamon smiled and was inspired watching Daiki dance. Later, Tamon confessed that he wanted to be someone who could make people smile, which led him to want to become an idol.
After finishing high school, Tamon arrives in Tokyo to pursue his dream of becoming an idol. He auditions and becomes the leader of the group, forming a friendship with Ouri, who helps him, until their relationship breaks down when he becomes the leader of the group F/ACE. Tamon isolates himself and begins to lose sight of his dreams as he is forced to portray a character opposite to his idol persona.
Tamon meets Utage by chance when she fills in for Tanaka at work. At first, he's worried she'll reveal the secret of his B-side, and he becomes even more anxious when he discovers Utage is a huge fan, feeling like he's let her down. Utage gradually calms Tamon's anxiety and earns his trust.
Trivia Tamon auditioned for F/ACE when he was only 16 years old. [7] Tamon is the second youngest member of F/ACE, at 18 years old, while Ouri is the youngest, at 17. Tamon and Ouri are neighbors, and Ouri lives in the apartment above Tamon's. [ 6 ] His fans call themselves "girlfriends". Utage refers to his gloomy state as "(Mr.) Gloomyhara" and his idol state as "Hottie-hara". Beyond the clothing and dialogue, each state can be differentiated by Tamon's hairstyle at that moment. Furthermore, since the story is mainly told from Utage's perspective, she is the one who perceives the differences between the two sides. Therefore, when the lines between the two states begin to blur because Tamon uses his "Hottie-hara" persona around Utage more, without being asked, there are times when the corresponding hairstyle is not shown. Despite having his hair dyed pink, the color that corresponds to Tamon in F/ACE is red. She had dyed her hair during the F/ACE audition program because pink is the color of love and to boost her confidence. [8] He and Keito Tachibana are the same height (178 cm/5'10"). His favorite subject is English. Their motto at A-Side is "Fortune comes to those who smile." Its slogan on the B-side is "Sorry for being born." As part of his morning routine, he gives thanks for the day, then goes outside and imagines his girlfriend's face 300 times. The theater actor who plays Tamon is Kanata Narabayashi. On TikTok, there is a filter created by the official Tamon's B-Side account that superimposes your face. Both Gloomyhara and Yamihara's personalities, both belonging to Tamon, exhibit behavioral traits that fall under Borderline Personality Disorder. Keito stated that Tamon doesn't like carrots and asked Utage to remove them from the cooking show. Tamon's idol image is based on the members of X-Real, a band he admired since childhood. Tamon stated that he doesn't normally like home-cooked meals, but somehow seems to enjoy what Utage cooks for him. She collects small kappa figurines which she displays in her bathroom. Tamon often buys items with mushroom motifs, such as his apron, cups, or even sugar for Ouri. When Tamon goes out incognito, he usually carries a paper bag to hide his face. Tamon is categorized as a Yandere. Tamon's direct apartment neighbor is Keito. She considers her best quality to be her skin. His favorite filling for rice balls is tuna with mayonnaise. As a child, I wanted to be like Ultraman. His pet in F/ACE is a pink fox. The fox might have some relation to the kitsune, a creature from Japanese folklore. Kitsune are described as beings with two faces: a good one that brings joy and prosperity, and an evil one that brings sadness and destruction. This could be a clue about Tamon's two sides. Kitsune are also described as talented shapeshifters and often charming, which also applies to Tamon and his idol persona. Three of the members of F/ACE have siblings. Tamon Fukuhara has an older brother named Daiki, who is the reason why Tamon pursues his career as an idol. Keito Tachibana has younger brothers named Yuuto, Kaito, Ryuuto, Shuuto, and Kento. Rintaro Kai has a little sister named Rinka.
Keito Tachibana: Keito is an idol, a member of the group F/ACE, and has light brown hair parted in the middle and green eyes. He sometimes wears glasses.
Keito has a calm and serene personality in his idol persona, and he is the leader of the group F/ACE. Tamon described him as somewhat absentminded during an interview. As the oldest member, he often acts maternal and affectionate towards the rest of the group. From the fans' perspective, he is considered the kindest and most approachable member.
On the other hand, Keito's darker side is actually calculating, pessimistic, and manipulative. He doesn't care much for his fans and sees them as a means to enrich himself, striving to become a millionaire and reveling in their naiveté in believing his public image, making them easy prey for his own gain. His view of his fans is shaped by both need and circumstance: he seeks money because he wants to pay for his younger siblings' university education and ease his parents' burden. Keito himself views idol fans, especially his own, quite negatively, as they are known for their obsessive behavior, which includes fighting, information gathering, and harassment.
Keito's caution and distrust of even the most devoted fans or anyone close to the idols fueled his initial hostility toward Utage, believing her to be responsible for Tamon and Ouri's poor performance during the center selection competition. Although Keito has good intentions in trying to prevent career-ruining scandals, he can be quite controlling with the F/ACE members.
While his A-side is described as "maternal and caring," Keito's B-side can be described as a "stressed and pessimistic caregiver." Although he states several times that he only sees his groupmates as sources of money, he shows obvious affection for them through shouting and physical gestures. Reminding Tamon to put on sunscreen, yelling at him to go to sleep, and scolding him after the show "Mama Keito's 30 Minute Cooking" are some of the actions that demonstrate his affection. He even borrows money from Natsuki and forgives him several times for not paying it back. On many occasions, it's shown that this is necessary due to the numerous problems F/ACE can have with each of its members.
History Keito grew up in a large family with five siblings. His father abandoned the family at some point, leaving them with a huge debt, as he bought more merchandise than he could afford. This also explains Keito's hatred for die-hard fans. At some point during high school, Keito started working at a café to help his family. Although he wasn't very friendly with customers at first, he realized that the café would generate much more income if he combined his charm with his good looks.
Keito's brother, Kaito, stated that he misses eating with them since Keito moved out to pursue his idol career and support his family.
Trivia Keito is the third character whose B-side has been revealed. His favorite subjects in school are math and physics. He is Tamon's flat neighbor and lives in the apartment on the right. He and Tamon Fukuhara are the same height (178 cm/5'10"). Her morning routine: I get up early, do a quick clean, then have coffee while watching the news, water my balcony garden and, if I have time, do some radio warm-up exercises. Their motto in A-Side is "Don't panic, don't panic, take a break, take a break." Their slogan on the B-side is "Constant dripping wears away the stone." As a child, I wanted to be a doctor. His favorite filling for rice balls is pickled plum. He considers his common sense to be his best quality. When he goes out incognito, Keito uses a trash can made from milk cartons to cover his face. His pet in F/ACE is a puppy. Her favorite subjects are Physics and Mathematics. If he saw a ghost, he would try to photograph it to earn some money. His family used to prepare ongiri in the past. The play stars Kohei Kamiyama as Keito. [ 3 ] His second younger brother, Kaito, is a big fan of Tamon. His third younger brother, Ryuuto, is a classmate of Homare Kinoshita. Grow vegetables on your balcony to save on food purchases. Before joining F/ACE, he worked in a coffee shop. Keito attended the same high school as Utage. Keito's hatred towards the most die-hard fans stems from his past. His VATasuku Hatanaka has the same number of kanji, which is three. The difference is that Keito's surname has one kanji, while his has two. Three of the members of F/ACE have siblings. Keito Tachibana has five younger brothers named Yuuto, Kaito, Ryuuto, Shuuto, and Kento. Tamon Fukuhara has an older brother named Daiki, and he is the reason why Tamon decided to pursue music as an idol. Rintaro Kai has a little sister named Rinka.
Rintaro Kai: Rintaro is an idol, a member of the group F/ACE, and has straight black hair. He is a handsome young man with a muscular build and a tattoo on his right shoulder.
Rintaro's stage presence is serene, calm, and mysterious. A man of few words.
Outside of work, he's a passionate otaku who spends lavishly on his favorite anime characters. He's loud and enthusiastic, and often pesters everyone with information about the anime he enjoys. Despite this, Rintaro loves his family very much.
His stage presence is largely due to his nervousness, as Rintaro freezes up when he's nervous. This gives the impression that he's stoic.
When he and his sister were children, they traveled to Egypt with their parents for a vacation. There, his sister longed to be by Rintaro's side.
Many years later, when his father collapses, Rintaro decides to leave F/ACE. This leads the other members, along with Utage, to try to find him and ask why. While searching for him, the F/ACE members realize they don't have his phone number (or each other's) when Utage asks them why they didn't call him.
Trivia Rintaro is the last member of F/ACE whose B-side is revealed in the manga. His blood type is B. Their fans are called "proteins". His mascot in F/ACE is a bear. Its slogan on side A is "Muscles". Their slogan on the B-side is "COURAGE RIN RIN RINTARO!" He comes from a wealthy family. When he goes out incognito, he wears a kappa mask to hide his face. His university major is political science. Her favorite subjects in school are history and geography. Maintaining friendships is important to him. He has a good relationship with his family. Although he loves being an idol, he prioritizes his family over F/ACE and his fans. His favorite filling for rice balls is cod roe. As a child, he wanted to be an astronaut. He believes his best qualities are his curiosity and motivation. Her morning routine consists of waking up (quite early), doing a real sushi dance, studying, buying breakfast at the convenience store, and reading her stack of manga on her way to school or work. Its A-side is the only one that was not manufactured on purpose. The play stars Yamato Soku in the role of Rintaro. [ 4 ] Three of the members of F/ACE have siblings. Rintaro has a little sister named Rinka. Tamon Fukuhara has an older brother named Daiki, who is the reason why Tamon pursues his career as an idol. Keito Tachibana has younger brothers named Yuuto, Kaito, Ryuuto, Shuuto, and Kento.
Ouri Sakaguchi: Ouri is a 17-year-old high school student who is also an idol in the group F/ACE. He has black hair parted in the middle and blue eyes, and he usually wears oversized T-shirts when he's not performing as an idol.
Ouri is a charming 17-year-old with a "princely" personality, whose goal is to act as a prince to his fans and take care of them.
Side A and Side B (Spoiler alert! Click "Reveal spoiler" below to find out).
Apart When Ouri is an idol, he's considered the "prince" of his fans, whom he often captivates with his charm and promises to protect them like their "knight." As the son of celebrities, he uses this image as an appealing tactic. It's not something imposed by his parents or the company, but his own choice.
Side B Outside of his idol persona, Ouri is known for his bad temper, frequently getting angry over situations, other people, and especially Tamon. The relationship between Tamon and Ouri is very distant; Tamon doesn't want to argue with Ouri, but Ouri sees him as a rival and gets angry with him whenever he makes a mistake, doesn't give his all, or becomes desperate. When Ouri gets angry, he can be aggressive, even going so far as to break down Tamon's apartment door. His manager has particularly difficult times with Ouri.
Much of his personality is marked by an inferiority complex. The son of celebrities and with a distinguished career since childhood, he has always lived under the pressure of high expectations. Because of this, he harbors a deep resentment towards Tamon for being the center of attention in F/ACE, believing that this prevents his own efforts from being recognized. To make matters worse, Tamon's true personality irritates him even more, as someone perpetually melancholic and lacking in self-esteem has managed to overshadow him. This has made him his goal: to defeat Tamon, displaying arrogance whenever he has the opportunity to demonstrate his superiority.
Although he often appears to have a bad temper, Ouri is actually very loyal to F/ACE. He's a key member of the team and intervened just in time to prevent Tamon's B-side from being leaked (manga). His concern for his teammates is genuine, even if his manner of speaking is blunt. When he realized his words had been too direct and had hurt Rintaro, he quickly apologized when Keito pointed it out (manga). This showed that, despite his gruff appearance, he had no intention of causing harm.
Ouri doesn't hide his emotions. When he falls for Utage, he prefers honesty to trickery. By confessing directly, he tells Utage to stop ignoring him and start noticing him (manga). When he discovers that Tamon likes Utage, his reaction isn't anger or worry; in fact, he's relieved that Tamon has finally realized it. He even shows frustration when Tamon hesitates and doesn't dare to confess (manga).
Trivia Ouri is the youngest member of F/ACE, at only 17 years old, while Tamon is the second youngest, at 18 years old. Ouri and Tamon are neighbors; Tamon lives in the apartment below Ouri. His direct neighbor in his apartment is Natsuki. [4] Ouri completely renovated the layout of his apartment. Since she considers her apartment too small, she prefers to stay at her parents' villa. Ouri's outbursts of anger have led him to break things, including Tamon's apartment door, while his manager tells him, "How many times have I told you not to break things?". [ 5 ] When he's undercover, he uses a gorilla mask to hide his face. Her fans call themselves "princesses". Her favorite subjects are Physical Education and Biology. Their motto at A-Side is "Return kindness with gratitude." Its slogan on the B-side is "Ka is power". She considers her kindness, serenity, and sincerity to be her best qualities. Her morning routine consists of sunbathing on the balcony, meditating, and having breakfast. His favorite filling for rice balls is spam. As a young man, he wanted to be a gang leader. His pet in F/ACE is a monkey. As a child, he apparently used to wear T-shirts with monkey motifs, as shown in a flashback. The little monkey is a cuter version of his usual gorilla theme. Ouri's favorite drink is "cheese tea," and his manager tells him to drink it to calm down when he has a fit of rage. [ 5 ] "Cheese tea" is a sweet and savory Taiwanese cold beverage made with green or black tea, topped with whipped cream cheese, milk, and salt. [6] When Ouri is not performing as an idol on stage, he is often seen wearing large, baggy T-shirts. Ouri used to go hiking with his father. Ouri loves to eat and has a very sweet tooth. Although Utage refers to him as a "gorilla" most of the time, the F/ACE manager mentions in chapter 2 the need to leave Tamon to feed a gorilla, which constitutes the first allusion to Ouri, although he is not mentioned by name. Haruki Mochida plays the role of Ouri in a play
Natsuki Ishibashi: Natsuki is an idol in the group F/ACE. He has messy blond hair, large brown eyes, and is often described as angelic. On the other hand, Natsuki has a perpetually tired expression, with pronounced dark circles under his eyes that he conceals with makeup.
In his most prominent role, Natsuki possesses an adorable personality and is described as angelic, with an innocence that reflects his idol persona. Natsuki adopts childlike behaviors, such as avoiding vegetables, using vocabulary associated with children ("bad"), or showing a reluctance to deal with complications. He complements this with a delicate and cheerful appearance.
Despite this, his personality in his lesser-known side, or outside of work, is noticeably depressed, unmotivated, and apathetic, choosing to "cope" with his problems by smoking, drinking, and playing pachinko. It is said that when Natsuki gets drunk, he tends to become a chatterbox, talking about his personal life and other things.
Natsuki is shown to be notoriously uninhibited and irresponsible: she has taken money from Keito on numerous occasions and failed to pay it back. When Keito asked her to dedicate herself to composing, Natsuki refused simply because she disliked Keito; her language becomes increasingly vulgar, to the point that even Tamon feels uncomfortable; and she even stays in her underwear despite the presence of a high school student like Utage in her apartment, simply because she doesn't have air conditioning in her room.
Natsuki comes from a broken home. According to him, his father didn't care what he did, no matter how hard he tried. This led him to live on the streets and busk for money during his teenage years, often being described as having an angelic face. Asuka found him and used to pay him with takoyaki from her father's stand to listen to him sing. Over time, Asuka and Natsuki saw each other more often and became friends.
Asuka was a judo prodigy and won many competitions. She made Natsuki promise to write and sing a song for her when she reached the finals, a promise Natsuki accepted. Inspired by Asuka, Natsuki decided to turn his life around. Asuka's father offered him a job at his takoyaki stand, and Asuka encouraged him to pursue music. Although hesitant at first, Natsuki went to a few auditions. After some time, he asked Asuka to be his girlfriend, and she happily accepted.
Just before Asuka's birthday, Natsuki wanted to buy her a present. Suddenly, her father appeared behind him and demanded the money, which Asuka refused. Natsuki's father became enraged and tried to take the money by force, but Asuka intervened. When she asked if Natsuki was alright, Natsuki's father shoved her in a fit of rage, causing Asuka to break her leg and miss her national judo competition. When Natsuki visited Asuka in the hospital, she asked how she was doing with the cast, to which Natsuki replied that she hadn't gone because she felt guilty about what had happened to Asuka. Frustrated that Natsuki had also given up on her dream, Asuka tearfully said goodbye to him, and their relationship ended.
Natsuki returned to living on the streets as his life slowly fell apart. One of his friends convinced him to audition, which he passed with ease, becoming a member of F/ACE. The guilt of having ruined Asuka's life never left Natsuki.
Shortly after Utage began working at Tamon's house, Natsuki disappeared. Keito asks Utage and Tamon to look for Natsuki, whom they find smoking in an arcade. An angry Keito demands that Natsuki do his job, but he refuses. After noticing a change in Tamon, he is inspired to compose a new song. Because he hasn't paid his electricity bill, he ends up at Tamon's house and gets drunk. In his drunken state, he tells Utage and Tamon everything about Asuka.
After Utage and Tamon found Asuka, Tamon asked Natsuki to check Asuka's fan account. At first, Natsuki was annoyed, but upon realizing that it was Asuka who had supported him from the very beginning, he regained his motivation and composed the song "FLY" for the new program, which is actually a tribute to her.
At the school festival, he finds Asuka and they resolve their past issues, with him apologizing and telling her he kept his promise. He also confesses that his new dream is to support Asuka and her students. They hug as Asuka bursts into tears.
Later, it's revealed that Asuka and Natsuki are still in contact. He comforts her when she breaks up with her boyfriend.

Trivia As part of her A-side, Natsuki is exceptionally good with makeup. Although she often uses it to conceal her dark circles. Natsuki has her own makeup brand, for which she manufactures the products. She gives one of her lip tints to Utage. Natsuki's pet in F/ACE is a squirrel. Her next-door neighbor is Ouri; Natsuki lives in the apartment on the right. His fans are called "BFFs", which stands for "Best Friends Forever". When he goes out incognito, he covers his face with a traffic cone. Her favorite subject is art. If Natsuki saw a ghost, she would wonder if he was so drunk that he was starting to hallucinate. Natsuki came up with his idol character on the fly during the audition, after feeling pressured by the fact that everyone else stood out. I used to work at a takoyaki stand. Their motto at A-Side is "Beautiful is justice!" Their slogan on the B-side is "I'll take it seriously starting tomorrow." When I was younger, I wanted to be an office worker. His favorite filling for rice balls is salmon roe. He considers his best feature to be his face. Natsuki describes her morning routine as follows: Side A: Sleep until the last minute and relax by eating a macaron. Side B: Sleep until the last minute, smoke a cigarette to wake up. Natsuki is the fourth character whose B-side has been revealed. The play stars Yuri Takahashi in the role of Natsuki. According to Asuka, she hates sweets.
