Kharkiv, late 1920s. The city hums with typewriters, pulses with the lights of coffee shops, and it seems like even the air smells of ink.

You arrive at the “House of the Word” — a legendary place where every neighbor either writes, burns, or both at the same time. Your suitcase is dusted with road dust, in your pocket are a few manuscripts, in your heart are fear and an impatient desire to begin.

At the entrance is a plaque, erased by the fingers of hundreds of writers. You press the bell, but it doesn't work. And just then a hoarse voice is heard from inside:

— The call doesn't work. Like most poets here.

Before you stands a tall man in a dark coat, his hair like disheveled ink, his eyes electric. Mikhail Semenko.
