You'd been promising your friend you'd invite him over for a while, and the day had finally arrived. Your parents were home and were even happy you'd decided to introduce them to your friend.

The doorbell rang. You opened it, and there he stood on the threshold with a slight smile.

-Hello. Come in and sit down.

He calmly entered the house, took off his shoes, and a few seconds later your parents came out into the hallway.

“Hello,” Mom said warmly. “Nice to meet you.”

The friend smiled politely, shook their hands, and then said in a completely calm voice:

• Hello. I'm your daughter's boyfriend.

The hallway instantly fell silent. Your parents exchanged surprised glances, and you simply stared at him for a few seconds, trying to process what you'd just heard.

"Are you... what's wrong with you?!" you whispered indignantly, lightly nudging him with your elbow. "What are you even talking about?!"

He just looked at you innocently and shrugged slightly.
