The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1

After the end of the Games, Johanna is captured by the Capitol. During his captivity he suffers brutal physical and psychological torture, including constant electric shocks. After being rescued, Finnick joins the rebellion. In one broadcast, he reveals the secrets of many Capitol leaders and publicly exposes President Snow's abuses, using information he had obtained over the years while he was being exploited. His statements weaken the image of the regime and show the dark side of the Capitol's power. During the war, he finally manages to marry Annie in a simple and emotional ceremony in District 13. Shortly afterwards they both discover that they are expecting a child. However, happiness is short-lived. In the final mission inside the Capitol, Finnick fights alongside Katniss to reach Snow. As they traverse the sewers, a group of mutts attack them. To allow his companions to escape, Finnick confronts the creatures, but ends up being surrounded and killed. Katniss causes an explosion to stop the mutts from continuing to chase them. After the war, Annie gives birth to their son. Although Finnick does not get to know him, his legacy remains that of a man who survived the exploitation of the Capitol, fought to protect those he loved, and gave his life so that Panem could have a free future.

Finnick Odair is one of the most complex and important characters in the Hunger Games saga. He was born in District 4, dedicated to fishing, and from a very young age he stood out for his strength, speed and skill with nets and tridents. At just 14 years old, he was selected to participate in the 65th Hunger Games, becoming one of the youngest victors in Panem's history. During his Games he used his intelligence and his prowess in the water to overcome much greater tributes. Finnick was known for his extraordinary beauty, charm, and confident attitude. Many people on Capitol Hill admired him and saw him as a star. However, that image hid a much crueler reality. President Snow forced Finnick into prostitution to entertain wealthy and influential citizens. Although he received valuable gifts, he was never free to refuse. Snow threatened to murder the people Finnick loved if he tried to resist. This exploitation profoundly marked his life and forced him to hide his pain behind a smile. His true love was always Annie Cresta, another District 4 victor. Annie suffered severe trauma during her Games and developed mental health issues, but Finnick never stopped loving her. His greatest desire was to protect her and live a quiet life with her. In the Quarter Quell of the Twenty-Five (75th Hunger Games), Finnick returns to the arena along with Mags. At first Katniss distrusts him because of his reputation as a womanizer, but she soon discovers that he is a loyal ally, brave and willing to risk his life for others. Cashmere and Gloss (District 1) Brothers and victors of previous Games. Both participate in the Vassalage. Gloss kills Wiress before Katniss kills him with an arrow. Cashmere also dies during the Games. Morphlings (District 6) Two morphine-addicted victors. The woman sacrifices herself to save Peeta from certain death, while the man dies later in the arena

Rue (11th Arrondissement) 12-year-old tribute in the 74th Hunger Games. She is small, agile, and an expert at climbing trees. She befriends Katniss and helps her destroy the Professionals' supplies. She dies pierced by a spear while protecting Katniss. His death inspires rebellion in District 11. Thresh (District 11) Strong and reserved. He protects Katniss by sparing her life in gratitude for her friendship with Rue. He later dies before the final confrontation. Cato (District 2) The main Professional tribute of the 74th Games. Clove (District 2) Professional Tribute expert with knives. He almost kills Katniss, but Thresh kills her to avenge Rue. Marvel (District 1) Professional tribute that kills Rue with a spear. Soon after, Katniss kills him with an arrow. Glimmer (District 1) Professional Tribute known for its beauty. She dies when a swarm of tracking wasps attacks her. Foxface (District 5) Very intelligent and stealthy tribute. Avoid fighting and survive by stealing food. He dies from eating some poisonous berries that Peeta had picked without knowing they were toxic. Wiress (District 3) Participates in the Quarter Quellage of the Twenty-Five. He is bright and discovers that the sand works like clockwork with programmed hazards. Before he can fully explain it, Gloss murders her. Beetee (District 3) Inventor and engineer. Use his intelligence to strategize in the arena. His plan with a conductor wire helps destroy the force field, allowing for the rescue of some tributes. Finnick Odair (District 4) Winner of the 65th Hunger Games. He is charismatic, very skilled with the trident and one of Katniss's best allies. He later marries Annie Cresta and dies during the mission at the Capitol

The Hunger Games Effie Trinket is the official escort of District 12 and the one in charge of organizing the harvest and accompanying the tributes to the Capitol. At first she is an elegant, strict woman obsessed with rules, good manners and punctuality. Although he seems superficial and completely loyal to the Capitol, he slowly begins to sincerely care for Katniss and Peeta, wishing for them to return alive. 2. On Fire: Effie continues to accompany Katniss and Peeta during the Victory Tour and then when they are sent to the Quarter Quell. It deeply affects him to have to fire them again, showing that he no longer sees them only as tributes, but as people he appreciates. Even so, it continues to fulfill its role within the Capitol system. 3. Mockingjay In the novel, Effie appears very rarely because she remains in the Capitol for much of the war. After the defeat of the Capitol, he survives and is reunited with Katniss, Haymitch and Peeta. Although he is still a lover of fashion and appearances, he has changed and leaves behind his old blind trust in the Capitol. He retains the affection he developed for the District 12 team and begins a new life after the war.

Before the story, Effie works as an escort for District 12 tributes. Their responsibilities include choosing names in the harvest, arranging tasks and tribute schedules. She is well known for her Capitol accent and positive attitude towards the Hunger Games.

Effie tries to encourage the tributes to be happy with their participation in the games, but despite her efforts, it is all to no avail. When Katniss offered to take her sister, Primrose's, place in the harvest of the 74th Hunger Games, the audience fell silent and Effie stood on stage clapping, in a vain effort to lighten the atmosphere. During the events of the rebellion it was thought that Effie would have been taken by the Capitol to extract information about the rebels, as happened to Portia and Peeta's preparation team, however Katniss would later learn that Effie had joined the rebellion.

Effie lives in the Capitol, and stays there for most of the year. The only reason he travels to District 12 or the other districts is because of the games or the Victory Tour.

Haymitch Abernathy of District 12 is chosen to participate in the Second Quarter Quell, a special edition in which each district must send four tributes instead of two. From the beginning he proves to be intelligent, observant and very skilled at surviving. During the Games he forms a temporary alliance with Maysilee Donner, another District 12 tribute. Together they advance for much of the competition, but eventually part ways. Soon after, Maysilee dies after being attacked by mutant birds, and Haymitch is unable to save her. Upon reaching the final confrontation, Haymitch discovers that the edge of the arena is surrounded by a force field that bounces off any object. He takes advantage of that detail when fighting the last tribute: his axe bounces off the force field and returns, mortally wounding her. Thus, Haymitch wins the Games thanks to his ingenuity, using a flaw in the arena's design. The Capitol, especially President Snow, considers this victory a humiliation because Haymitch used the arena itself against the Vigilantes. As punishment, shortly after the Games his mother, younger brother and girlfriend are murdered, leaving him completely alone. Thereafter, he falls into alcoholism and, years later, becomes the mentor of District 12 tributes, including Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark.

Haymitch Abernathy is the mentor to Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark in the 74s. The Hunger Games and the 75. The Hunger Games (Third Quarter Quarter Pack) and he was also the winner of the Second Quarter Break of the Twenty-Five.

Haymitch Abernathy was the only known victor from District 12, however, in Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, it is known that the first victor from District 12 was Lucy Gray Baird.

In the Games, he usually carries a knife or sword, although he rarely uses them in battle, as he is not particularly violent and does not like to kill unless completely necessary

He is the son of a baker and is nicknamed " the bread boy ". He was the male tribute from District 12, chosen during the harvest, along with Katniss Everdeen to participate in the 74. The Hunger Games, a competition organized by the Capitol that forces children and young people from 12 to 18 years old, to fight to the death. During the interview before the games, Peeta confesses his love for Katniss, saying that he had fallen in love with her for as long as he can remember, giving her a desirable, convenient appearance to please potential sponsors. Peeta and Katniss turn out to be the victors of the games, although this is against the rules. After the games, President Snow kills Seneca Crane, for having allowed both tributes to win. The relationship between him and Katniss is complicated throughout the trilogy, becoming more complicated in Mockingjay when Peeta is kidnapped by the Capitol Peeta Mellark is a 16-year-old boy from District 12, the son of a baker. Years ago he helped Katniss by giving her bread when she and her family were hungry, although she did not fully appreciate it until later. He is chosen as a male tribute for the Hunger Games. During the competition he uses his charisma and skill to win over the audience, and reveals that he has a crush on Katniss. Although at first he seems to have allied himself with the Professionals, he actually does so to protect her. He is seriously injured, but survives thanks to Katniss's help. Both win the Games by challenging the Capitol with the poisonous berries. 2. In flames Peeta and Katniss live as victors, but the Capitol forces them to maintain the image of a couple in love. In the Quarter Quell, Peeta does his best to protect Katniss, convinced that she is more important to Panem's future. He even tries to sacrifice himself several times for her. 3. Mockingjay Katniss agrees to become the "Mockingjay," the symbol of the rebellion against the Capitol. He participates in propaganda missions and then fights during the war. He must face the trauma, loss of loved ones, and change from Peeta, who was manipulated by the Capitol. After President Snow's defeat, Katniss discovers that President Coin also poses a danger and decides to kill her during the execution ceremony. After the war he returns to District 12, where, with the passage of time, he finds peace with Peeta and they start a family, although both continue to bear the scars of everything they have experienced.

Katniss observes the Cornucopia and sees an arc she turns to Peeta and he tells her not to go for the bow, when the gong sounds, Katniss moves away from the Cornucopia quickly, getting into a small confrontation with the boy from District 9 for an orange backpack when Clove throws a knife at the boy he falls to the ground dead. That backpack was important for his survival since it contained: a sleeping bag, an iodine dropper (water purifier), a bottle of water, cookies, strips of meat and glasses for the night, a wire rope and matches. Katniss is nearly killed in the Cornucopia when Clove throws a knife at her head; She blocks him using the backpack and earns a good knife as a result. As she prepares for the interview, she gets stressed out thanks to Haymitch and Effie. Cinna dresses her in a dress covered in jewels that make her look covered in flames when she moves. Cinna advises her before doing the interview, to be herself. She is interviewed by Caesar Flickerman and talks about her time at the Capitol. She becomes something of a celebrity in Panem and is given the advantage of sympathy after Peeta admits to Panem that he loves her. The night before the games, she is terrified of the horrors that await her in the arena. He goes to the roof and finds Peeta, the two talk about the games and Peeta tells him that he wants to die like himself and prove that he is not just a piece of the Capitol games. Katniss is enraged and leaves when he doubts he will win. The next day Katniss is picked up by a hovercraft and some agents from La Paz direct her to the launch room where Cinna dresses Katniss in reddish pants, a green blouse, black jacket and boots (in the film the blouse is black and the pants green) and Cinna pins her Mockingjay brooch. While waiting to leave, Katniss looks nervous because she thinks she will die in the games. Cinna tells Katniss that she can't bet on a tribute because of her work in preparing the games, but that if she could she would bet on her. Katniss finds confidence in this and walks to the metal circle, which closes and rises to the arena.

When she was 16, Katniss volunteers to take her sister's position at the Hunger Games when Prim is called during the harvest. The other tribute from his district is Peeta Mellark, the boy who saved his family from starvation during his mother's depression by giving them a few loaves of bread. Before his trip to the Capitol, he goes to the Justice Building to say goodbye to his loved ones. When she says goodbye to her mother and Prim, Prim makes her promise that she will try to win, Katniss promises her and tells her mother to promise that she will not leave Prim alone.

Madge went to say goodbye to Katniss as well, giving her a pin from a mockingjay and a quick kiss on the cheek. The baker, Peeta's father, goes and gives him cookies, a luxury, and tells him that he will not let his family go hungry. Gale tries to give her one last piece of advice but it is taken out before finishing as time had run out, leaving Katniss not knowing the one thing Gale wanted to tell her so desperately. On the way to the Capitol, Katniss and Peeta meet their drunken mentor, Haymitch Abernathy. When Katniss arrives at the Capitol, she is prepared for the parade on the streets of the city. One night, when it was raining, the baker's wife yelled at him for having been going through his garbage, even when it was empty. Having seen this, the baker's son, Peeta Mellark, burned two loaves of bread, earning a few blows from his mother. When he went outside under the pretense of feeding the loaves of bread to the pigs, he threw them at Katniss instead and hurried into the house. The next day at school, Katniss caught Peeta looking at her and quickly lowered her gaze, which landed on the first dandelion of the year. Seeing the dandelion made him think about hours spent in the woods with his father, and he began to use the skills his father had taught him to forage for food and trade it. He increased his skills in hunting and foraging, selling food illegally on the Burner, the black market where he spent most of his life. During her hunting period alone, Katniss meets Gale Hawthorne after colliding with one of her traps, which had been caught by a rabbit. As they flee far into the Capitol with the intention of finding and killing President Snow, Katniss finds herself pressing into Snow's mansion, which had supposedly been opened to house the children of the Capitol (but was actually intended to provide human shields to Snow), the bombs placed in supply packages killing many of these children. rebel doctors, and Katniss's sister, while Katniss is burned. President Snow is tried and found guilty, but he tells Katniss that the final assault that killed Primrose was ordered by President Coin, not the Capitol. Katniss is acquitted for her apparent insanity. he returns with Haymitch to District 12, months later, largely recovered from his brainwashing, Peeta. Eventually, Katniss realizes that falling in love with Peeta was inevitable, as he had always represented the promise of a better future, rather than the destruction she associates with Gale. She says that she did not need Gale's fire, as she had it in herself; she needed Peeta, who symbolizes the hope she needed to survive ("What I need is the dandelion in spring, the bright yellow color that signifies rebirth and not destruction. The promise that life can go on no matter how painful our losses are, that it can become good again.") with Haymitch, they create a book full of stories of the previous tributes, others who died in the war

They walk to an abandoned apartment and find couches scattered around the room. Everyone sits down, with Jackson still pointing his gun at Peeta. The television soon turns on to inform Panem that Katniss, Gale, Finnick, Boggs, Peeta, and Cressida are dead. Peeta suggests that he be killed but Katniss does not allow it, saying that he is too important to the mission to lose him. After getting food, Snow appears on television to talk about how Katniss was just a child, not a leader and that the Capitol will now win the war. District 13 takes over the broadcast and President Coin says that she believes in what the Mockingjay stood for and that the rebels will find the strength they need to rid themselves of their oppressors.

The silver lining of everyone thinking they're dead is that they have an advantage. They start a way out, since the streets are not a possibility to search and the roofs are just as bad. The Team heads towards the sewers with the help of the Avox Pollux and begins to advance through the underground. After sleeping, they are attacked by lizard mutts. After running for a moment and the deaths of several team members, including Finnick, the team escapes.

The team manages to stay in the basement of the Tigris tent, where they stay for a couple of days and watch the rebels advance. While waiting, the citizens of the Capitol are sent to the outskirts of the city. With the help of Tigris, Katniss, Peeta, and Gale blend in with the crowd.

After Peeta's arrival, Boggs makes a call to Coin about sending him to the squad. When he returns, he says that he believes Coin sent Peeta personally to assassinate Katniss since after the war, a new leader will be elected and Katniss, having a lot of influence as the Mockingjay, will be a threat if his vote does not go to Coin. To stop Katniss, Coin moved Peeta to the squad, hoping he would kill her. After a call from Haymitch, Katniss decides to try to help Peeta remember his real memories. The Squad creates a game, " Real or Not Real ", to help him separate his kidnapped memories from the true ones. During this, Peeta reveals that when he was being held hostage in the Capitol, they forced him to watch the execution of two Avoxes, Darius and Lavinia, under the guise of trying to get information about the rebellion.

During the filming of a prop, Boggs steps on a mislabeled pod that blows his legs off. At the same time, another pod is activated, creating a black wave that advances towards the Squadron. While they were going to move Boggs to an apartment to escape the wave, Peeta has an episode and almost kills Katniss with a gun. When a member of the Squad, Mitchell, tries to stop him, Peeta accidentally kills him by throwing him out of him, causing him to fall into another mislabeled pod that encloses Mitchell in a web of barbed wire. Inside the apartment, Boggs transfers the Holo to Katniss and dies after giving her four orders: "Don't trust them, don't come back. Kill Peeta. Do what you have come to do." Katniss tells the team that she was on a secret mission to kill President Snow on Coin's orders. She admits that only Boggs knew, Cressida backs up Katniss's story, saying that Plutarch wanted Snow's murder to be televised, thinking that would end the war.

however, that same squadron is designated for the recording of propos concerning the war, and therefore will not be in actual combat.

Once sent to the Capitol, on the fourth morning, a soldier of the squad, named Leeg 2, activates a device (sheath) that was not well marked causing a rain of metal darts that causes his death. A replacement is shipped immediately, and arrives in the evening of the next day.

Everyone is shocked when they recognize the new soldier. No one can believe Peeta is there.

Katniss is sedated. When he wakes up, he bumps into Haymitch, who is next to him. Haymitch informs her that they have sent a party to rescue Peeta, knowing that she will not do anything more until she knows that the Capitol cannot hurt him. Driven by the need to help, Katniss and Finnick record a proposal that will be used as a distraction as the rescue mission gets underway at the Capitol. The proposal has a great impact thanks to the fact that Finnick uses the "Secrets" with which his lovers paid him to attract great attention, especially when he reveals the dark history of President Snow's rise to power, and his relationship with roses. The mission is declared a success, managing to save not only Peeta, but Annie and Johanna as well. Katniss and Peeta reunite, but the meeting takes an unexpected turn. Looking at Katniss, Peeta walks over to her and wraps his hands around the girl's neck.

Before he knows it, Peeta is already trying to strangle her to death.

Katniss wakes up in the hospital. When Plutarch, Haymitch and Beetee meet Prim next to him in the hospital bed, he learns that the Capitol has used a rare technique known as " Kidnapping ". The "Kidnapping" was done by giving Peeta doses of Tracker poison, while showing him videos of Katniss and telling him that she destroyed his family and friends, thus tricking him into hating her. Katniss's grief does not allow her to remain in District 13. Although he asks to go to the Capitol, he is instructed that this will not take place until District 2 is taken. Katniss then asks to be sent to District 2 to witness the seizure of " The Bone ", the district's last bastion of resistance. After that, Katniss returns to District 13, where she begins training as a soldier for the invasion of the Capitol. At the end of her training she is assigned to 451 Squadron under the command of Boggs

Peeta's warning gives the rebels 10 minutes of notice to put into action the planned contingency plan to save the inhabitants of District 13 in the underground bunkers, which Boggs will later confirm, meant more lives saved thanks to the total evacuation of the population.

During the first night of her stay in the bunker, Katniss has a conversation with her sister Prim about her stays in District 13. Soon, the exchange inevitably turns to the Peeta and Katniss affair, when the latter cannot hide that she is worried that the rebelliousness of Peeta's warning could mean his death. To his surprise, Prim clarifies, in a slightly sinister way, that Snow will never kill Peeta. Instead, she'll keep him alive as long as she can, because she knows the boy is the only weapon she has against her, and she'll do whatever she can with him to tear her apart. Katniss is very disturbed by this statement, and after an encounter with Finnick that confirms what Prim said, she falls into a small depression. The bombing of District 13 ends, and with it, Katniss, Finnick, and Gale are called upon to perform a propo and show Panem that District 13 is still standing and they are alive. Upon surfacing when she looks over the debris left by the bombing, she sees that President Snow has left more roses. The effect is devastating. Katniss begins to cry when the film crew tells her that she is uttering a line to the camera, to show that she is still alive and still fighting. Finnick explains to the perplexed film crew that Katniss knows the Capitol will hurt Peeta if she does.

President Alma Coin, the leader of District 13, agrees to these conditions and Katniss officially becomes the Mockingjay. Katniss then embarks on starring in commercials for the rebels called propos. For her first purpose, she and her team (which includes her old friend Gale) are sent to District 8, where they are momentarily caught up in a bombing raid and witness the destruction of a hospital. The situation inspires Katniss to call for justice, and once it is disseminated, the effect of the proposal is not long in coming. Then, later on, during the broadcast of an interview with Peeta on Capitol Hill, Beetee is able to gain control of the broadcast and air the propo for a short time before a battle for control of it begins. Peeta takes advantage of the confusion of the moment to send a message to the rebels warning them of an attack, however, immediately, the Capitol breaks into chaos, the camera falls to the ground, and the scene fades away with Peeta's screams being heard. Moreover, the spilling of his blood on the ground is glimpsed, making us think that Peeta is being tortured.

It begins with Katniss taking her role as a rebel in District 13. Only three victors were saved from the arena: Beetee (an old man from District 3, known as Volts), Finnick (the handsome victor of District 4 and Katniss's first ally), and Katniss. Peeta is not among those rescued, instead he is missing, along with other victors such as Enobaria (the female tribute from District 2), Johanna (the tribute from District 7) and Annie (who was not in the Quarter Quell but was arrested when the arena exploded). Katniss is still scared for Snow and fears for Peeta's life. begins in District 12, which has been reduced to ashes. Katniss, for her part, has insisted on going alone to see the ruins of the district. We find the events that occurred after the sand exploded. While she's there, she takes back Buttercup (Prim's cat), her father's old hunting jacket, a photo of her mother's wedding, and a plant book. Before leaving, she realizes that Snow left her a white rose in her room, a symbol of her impending revenge.

A hovercraft takes her to District 13 where District 12 survivors now reside. Once back, he watches an interview between Caesar and Peeta. Katniss is relieved to see that Peeta looks unharmed, even healthy, but during the interview, Peeta calls for a ceasefire which results in him being accused by many of the rebels of being a traitor. Instead, for Katniss, the interview and the reaction it provoked among the rebels becomes the firm stimulus that concretizes her decision to transform into the Mockingjay, on the condition that at the end of the war Peeta and the other tributes are granted immunity. In addition to this, Katniss also requests for hunting rights for her and Gale, the right to keep Buttercup for Prim and permission to, when the time comes, kill Snow.

Annie Cresta - Winner of the 70th Hunger Games, she lost her sanity when she saw her fellow District Ward be beheaded. She is arrested by the Capitol after the Vassalage of the Twenty-Five. She is Finnick Odair's love and later becomes his wife. She is widowed, when he is killed by mutts during the assassination mission to President Snow, and later gives birth to her son.

Johanna Mason - It's the tribute of District 7. He participated in the 71st Hunger Games and also participated in the third Quarter Quell of the Twenty-Five. After the destruction of the arena of the 75th Hunger Games, she is kidnapped and tortured by the Capitol. She is rescued by the rebels and begins training as a soldier along with Katniss to fight in the rebellion, though her trauma to the water due to the torture suffered in the Capitol prevents her from becoming one.

President Coriolanus Snow - The cruel President of Panem, dies of suffocation by his own blood or being trampled underfoot. Katniss said no one cared. It smelled of roses and blood as it poisoned people to come to power. He also drank from the poison with which he poisoned people so as not to arouse suspicion. He took an antidote afterwards, but wounds still formed in his mouth, which gave off the smell of blood, so he used rose perfume to cover it.

President Alma's Coin - She is the president of District 13. He authorized the bombing of the children of the Capitol, where Prim died. Katniss kills her out of revenge during Snow's execution.

Boggs - Katniss's bodyguard and army captain. He is killed in battle, but not before transferring command and the Holo to Katniss so that he could continue his mission to kill President Snow. Her last piece of advice is to kill Peeta, trust no one, and do what she came to do in the Capitol

Haymitch Abernathy - Former victor of District 12, who turned to alcohol to forget his past in games. He used to be a mentor for The Hunger Games. He helped in the rebellion and then returned to District 12, where he remains an alcoholic. He was the winner of the 50th Hunger Games. Mentor to Katniss and Peeta.

Effie Trinket - She is Peeta and Katniss' escort in the 74th and 75th Hunger Games. She is a resident of the Capitol, so she dresses in strange clothes and has the distinctive Capitol accent. She is arrested at the end of the 75th Hunger Games and released when the rebels win the war against the Capitol. She watched as Katniss killed President Coin. After this, he returns to his home in the Capitol.

Plutarch Heavensbee - He was the Chief Watcher in the 75th Hunger Games, but secretly worked with the rebels to overthrow the Capitol.

Finnick Odair - Winner of the 65th Hunger Games. President Snow forced him to sell his body to the wealthy people of the Capitol after he became the victor of his Hunger Games, threatening to kill the people he loved if he didn't. Originally from District 4. He assisted in the rebellion against the Capitol. He and Katniss helped each other keep their sanity when Peeta and Annie were kidnapped. He marries Annie Cresta after she is rescued from the Capitol, but is killed by lizard-like mutts during the mission to assassinate President Snow. He and Annie have a son, who never knew his father.

Katniss Everdeen - Symbolizes the Mockingjay to the rebels. She fought her way into the Capitol and put an end to the rebellion. He assassinated President Coin. He lives in District 12. It became the symbol of the Rebellion against the Capitol. Returning to District 12 after the war, she and Peeta got back together. It is unclear if she is married to Peeta, but it is known that she loves him in an endgame of "Real or Not" at the end of Part III of the third book. In the epilogue, Peeta and Katniss are shown to be on the prairie of District 12 together, plus their two children, a boy and a girl.

Peeta Mellark - He was in the arena with Katniss, but was captured by the Capitol. Peeta has loved Katniss since they were young children. He was kidnapped by the Capitol after the 75th Hunger Games, and his memories were distorted to make him hate Katniss. Because of this, he attempted Katniss, though to kill without result. He is finally cured and returns to District 12, months after his beloved. They get married, grow up together and have two children, a girl and a boy.

Primrose Everdeen - Katniss's little sister. Primrose helps her sister keep her sanity when Peeta is away. Prim works as a healer in District 13, and is killed during a bombing that is supposed to have been caused by Coin's soldiers, when a hovercraft with parachute bombs drops them on a group of children in the Capitol, where Prim worked as a doctor during the explosion.

Gale Hawthorne - Katniss's best friend and hunting partner. He has a crush on Katniss, but they don't end up together, as she blames him for Prim's death. Gale ends up being a government official in District 2.
