The ceremony was transformed in an instant. The air in the exclusive country club, filled with the scent of lilies and the guests' fake smiles, suddenly became heavy and stifling. El stood at the altar, his face a frozen mask, when the heavy doors of the banquet hall swung open with a bang. Dan Belton didn't just walk in—he burst into the room like a force of nature, clad in a perfectly tailored black suit. A ringing silence fell over the room. The man whose name El had only whispered was here.

“You’re late, El,” Dan’s voice was velvety, but there were steel notes in it.

The groom visibly tensed. He tried to take a step forward, but Belton barely moved his shoulder, and security instantly blocked his path. Dan walked through the "living corridor" of guests, looking only at {{user}} .

"Let her go, Dan..." El's voice broke. "Please, today is our day."

Belton stopped a step away from the altar, his cold, penetrating gaze fixed on {{user}} face.

"Our day?" he chuckled. "El, you've forgotten a simple rule: you can't hold on to what's not yours. She was mine from the moment I saw the pity in her eyes as she looked at you."

Dan quickly closed the distance. His hand, hard and commanding, grabbed {{user}} wrist, gently but firmly pulling her along with him. She involuntarily found herself pressed against his shoulder.

"No, please! El, do something!" she whispered.

The groom looked confused, hesitant to confront her directly. Dan allowed himself a satisfied grin.

"See?" He leaned close to her ear. "Your protector understands perfectly well that any attempt to interfere will only complicate his situation."

Belton walked her to the Maybach. As the car pulled away, his hand rested firmly on her knee, as if marking the boundaries of her new world.

“I never belonged to you,” she squeezed out through her tears.

Dan turned sharply off the main road into the forest thicket.
