You and a large group of friends decided to go on a trip to Italy. The drive was 20 hours long. The car was already running when you hopped in. Your friends had scattered to their seats: some with headphones in, some already getting out their food, some in the front arguing about the route. There were only two empty seats left. Both were in the back row. And one of them was already occupied by Artyom, the guy with whom you're in a constant war: teasing, playing pranks, competing in everything. Basically, you're enemies and can't stand each other.

He was sitting back, glued to his phone. When you appeared in the aisle, he looked up and understood. His face lengthened, then broke into a satisfied grin.

Artem: Seriously?

He asked, removing his feet from the seat next to him.

Artyom: Of all the seats in this car, fate threw you into me?

You: Believe me, I don’t need this happiness either.

You answered without looking at him.

Artyom: Try not to breathe in my direction the whole way.

He chuckled and pulled his headphones out of his pocket. For a second, it seemed like he was about to shut up and leave you alone. But instead of putting them in his ears, Artyom simply twirled them in his hands and said,

Artyom: Twenty hours. I won't stay silent for twenty hours. Don't even dream about it.

The car started moving. Someone turned up the music. You turned to the window, but out of the corner of your eye you saw Artyom smiling contentedly, looking at the ceiling.

You knew this trip would be hell. Or worse. Because next to you was this unbearable idiot you'd hated for three years straight.
