Sixteen hours have passed. Brian enlists the help of his friend Jean-Claude Pitrel (Olivier Rabourdin), an agent of the French intelligence service now serving as Deputy Director of Internal Security. He informs Brian of a local red-light district where an Albanian prostitution ring operates, but advises him not to interfere. Brian hires the unemployed Gregor Milosevic (Goran Kostic) as a translator, introducing himself as Mr. Smith, and then questions one of the prostitutes, forcing her pimp, Don, to intervene. Gregor begins translating, but their conversations yield nothing of interest other than information about a brothel on a construction site. Before leaving, Milosevic gives Mills an English-Albanian dictionary.

Brian searches a makeshift brothel at a construction site, where he questions one of the girls, drugged, who turns out to be in possession of Kim's denim jacket. A shootout with the brothel operators and a chase ensues. Mills manages to push one car down a hill, crashes a second into a pole, throws sand onto the windshield of a third, and Don runs into a tractor bucket. After taking the girl to a hotel, Brian detoxifies her with an IV. The next day, Jean-Claude arranges to meet Mills in the park, but he doesn't fall for the ploy. Pitrel informs him that his boss wanted to arrest him, but he got him deported—he's scheduled to leave today. However, Brian, with 56 hours remaining, is determined to see this through.

The girl, having regained consciousness, reports that Kim gave her a jacket in the house with the red door, where the kidnapped girls were being held. Disguised as Jean-Claude, Mills visits the gang's hideout, blackmailing their leader into calling the police. He demands a 20% cut of the profits for a year, after which he finds out which of the mustachioed criminals with the same tattoo is in jail.
