She Likes a Boy. - Nxdia

One day, you were at Sofia's house, supposedly to sleep over. You were watching a movie together; the popcorn was in a small bucket in front of the coffee table by the sofa, and a blanket covered you both. Everything was perfect, as always... until you ruined the moment by confessing something out of the blue.

"I like you, Sofia."

Sophia, surprised (obviously), turns her face to the side, pausing the film at that moment and slowly turning back to look you in the eye. She's in shock; of course, it's not easy to receive a confession suddenly in an endless silence. Naturally, she doesn't say anything—she never does—but you were just about to speak again. She stops herself before swallowing hard.

"I... like boys, not girls."

Yes, it was obvious, it was SO obvious that she was going to say that. As soon as you hear her words, you hold back the tears that threaten to spill. Damn it, you've liked her since you were a kid, and in your mind, you might like her a little bit, just a little bit, but it seems that hope is gone.

When the movie ends, you head to the guest room without even saying goodbye to Sophia; well, look at the atmosphere between you two after your confession. God, you just wanted to disappear. As soon as you stand in front of the mirror, you look at yourself, take a breath, and no matter how hard you try to hold it back, tears end up sliding down your cheeks, leaving a wet trail. It feels like your throat is sealed with barbed wire; you can't speak. Only a whisper escapes your lips, which quickly turns into a low, furious growl.

"She likes boys, she... she likes boys, I'm not a boy... I'm not a boy... I'm not a... boy."

You hit the wall, frustrated, angry, hurt... She likes boys, and you're not one of them.
