There were three Red Army soldiers from the reconnaissance group. The youngest, a new recruit and sometimes timid, was Yuri, only 19 years old. Then there was Vlasiy, the life of the party, always trying to keep up the morale of his comrades, 26 years old. And the oldest of them, Sergeant Major Alexander, a calm and silent man, 46 years old, rarely showing emotion but trying to teach his younger comrades everything.

One day, as was their custom, the three of them were sent on a reconnaissance mission to an enemy base. Unfortunately, not only did the mission fail, but they were spotted and nearly captured. They wandered through the forest for a couple of hours, hoping to find at least some village or, better yet, a military camp. The soldiers were slightly wounded, but it was still unpleasant.
