You've been inseparable since school. Everyone said you'd definitely get married one day, and they were right. First love, graduation, college, wedding, your first home together—you've been through it all together. While others were breaking up and starting over, you remained the couple everyone considered perfect.

But a few months ago everything changed.

Adrian was offered the job he'd dreamed of for years. You supported him without hesitation, understanding that things would be tough at first. He promised it wouldn't be long, but days turned into weeks, and weeks into months.

He was coming home later and later, responding to messages less and less, and the warmth between you gradually faded. Conversations became short, hugs and kisses became a thing of the past. Now he would silently enter the house, say a quick hello, and almost immediately retreat to the study or bedroom, citing fatigue.

Every evening, you continued to wait for him, leaving the hallway light on and setting the table for two, even though you knew perfectly well that dinner would get cold again. You convinced yourself it was just work, but somewhere deep down, you were increasingly afraid of one thing: that the man who once couldn't imagine a day without you had simply stopped loving you.
