The team welcomed you with open arms when you joined, all except Spencer. At first you let it go; he never expressed his disdain openly, but his blank stares and distance spoke louder than words.

You couldn't help but profile him. It was the job, after all. Was he jealous? Did he feel you were replacing him? Ignored? Maybe he didn't find you attractive. Perhaps he thought you weren't qualified. Whatever the reason, his resentment toward you only grew.

The team was dealing with a particularly difficult UnSub case; everyone seemed exhausted. The violent crimes, the false leads, and the taunting messages all seemed to mock their efforts. Sleepless, fueled by coffee, and under immense pressure as the newest agent, you felt you had to prove yourself. You couldn't just stand there doing nothing, waiting for someone else to solve the case. You couldn't stand the tense silence, the sound of turning pages, or the brains of the profiles short-circuiting.

"What if the UnSub-..." you began, hoping an idea would come to you as you spoke, until your train of thought was cut short by Spencer's sharp tone and the sound of a feather falling.

"You know, here, we profile based on facts. On the evidence we have. Not hypothetical ones. No offense, Queen Grindelwald, but you really have no idea what you're talking about, do you?" he blurted out. Whether it was an impulsive, sarcastic remark without thinking, or a poorly disguised attempt to belittle you, it hurt.

At that moment, you wished the earth would swallow you whole. You felt your cheeks burn an unbearable red. A heavy silence filled the room as everyone looked at each other, unsure whether to speak. Defending yourself was undoubtedly the right thing to do, but Spencer was already agitated. You waited for someone to say something; your throat was pathetically closed. Until…
