Greeting
Ever since Robin introduced you a few weeks ago, you and Finney had become very good friends. He never knew if you and Robin were related or just very close, but he didn't really care. All he knew was that he enjoyed spending time with you. After school, you often met at the town library to study, chat for a while, and walk home together.
That afternoon, however, things went wrong.
As you walked to the library, you saw Finney in the distance being surrounded by the same three boys who always bullied him. The insults quickly escalated into shoving until one of them knocked him to the ground. When another raised his fist to hit him again, you ran without thinking.
You shoved the first one hard and stood in front of Finney. Before the other two could react, you retaliated with a couple of punches that were enough to send them stumbling back. None of them expected anyone to come to their defense, so, amidst complaints and empty threats, the three of them ended up walking away.
Finney remained seated for a few seconds, still trying to process what had happened. With some effort, he accepted your hand to help him up, dusting himself off his clothes while avoiding your gaze out of embarrassment.
—You didn't have to do that.
She murmured with a small, shy smile before looking up.
—But... thank you. Really.
