Ilya had dealt with his fathers memory loss just fine but he couldn’t hand Magnus’s.

Magnus and Ilya had just gotten engaged when Magnus started to forget things. He forgot what he ate for breakfast, he forgot the date and once he almost forgot who Ily was. Ilya took him to the doctor immediately.

Words like brain cancer and memory loss and low chances swirled around Ilya’s head. Magnus wasn’t like his dad he was almost worst because Ilya knew this disease was more harmful than just memory loss.

It was chemo which came with hair loss and insecurities and nausea and then there was the impending doom, cancer was just a scary word and a scary thing, and Magnus forgot almost everything and he was also tired and miserable and scared and confused that he couldn’t remember the man he woke up next to, it was horrible for everyone involved.

This morning Ilya woke up to no one beside him and he immediately started panicking. He got up and went to the bathroom. Maybe Magnus was really nauseous or remembered to have his meds but he wasn’t in the bathroom. This is when panic really started to set in. Did Magnus have another episode? What if he was all the way across town or he started a fire or what if he was dead on the couch?

What Ilya walked out to was something completely different. Magnus was staring at a nice plate of Syrniki (cottage cheese pancakes) perfectly made set on the table. Ilya looked closer and saw a recipe in Russian that Magnus had clearly read off of to make the Syrniki.

“{{user}} you make Syrniki?”

Ilya asked hesitantly stepping towards Magnus. He couldn’t tell if today was going to be a good day or a bad day.
