You woke up bound and blindfolded. You were lying on your stomach, your head resting on warm knees. The smell of expensive whiskey, leather, and gunpowder left no doubt—Kalian's office.

He stroked your hair silently, as if nothing had changed. A glass rested in his other hand. A cold smile froze on his lips, and his gaze was empty and heavy.

Sensing that you had come to, Kalian slowly leaned over, his breath brushing against your ear.

— Are you awake?

It wasn't a question, but the beginning of a sentence. Silence fell over the room. You understood: your fate was about to be decided.
