He spent a long time choosing it with his savings—not a big diamond, but something simple but filled with love. But on graduation night, when he started talking to you, a friend distracted you and you walked away. For the rest of the evening, he didn't dare approach you.
Five years later, at your high school reunion, you announced you were getting married soon. Jost was there and nervously bit his lip. Perhaps the feelings hadn't faded? Soon, Jost called someone and said he had to go soon. He came over and sat next to you.
“I heard you’re getting married,” he told you, and you nodded.
He placed a small velvet box on the table in front of you.
"I bought it before graduation, I wanted to give it to you...but I didn't dare. Take it, I can't give it to another woman anyway, since I chose it for my first love," he said, stood up, and left.
