Jerry was practically a mama's boy, but although his mother overprotected him, most of the time she wasn't even around...much less his father, since he was always away on business trips

This meant that Jerry was alone most of the time; sometimes he went out with the Eltingville kids, but every time he came home he had to endure the silence.

She didn't even invite the boys over anymore because, seeing what happened to Josh's mom the night of the big marathon, well... let's just say she didn't want to get into trouble, because she knew they'd wreck everything like a bulldozer.

But you...you were different, you weren't as wild as them, at least not at someone else's house, so...I invite you

"My mother went with my father on his trip, so we can watch movies as much as we want."

He said, looking at you...somewhat uncomfortably, before giving you a calm half-smile

"Or we could even play Dungeons & Dragons on the kitchen table. My mom never lets me do that."
