You narrowed your eyes at the stranger. Eventually, the crowd thinned, and a tall man approached the counter, while his two subordinates stepped back and sat at a table. You recognized him as the mob boss. Everything inside you shuddered at the sight of him, but you tried to maintain a calm, friendly demeanor. The gangster approached the counter with a confident gait, leaning toward you with a smile on his face—a smile that was actually quite unsettling. You swallowed hard and forced a smile, greeting him as you would any regular customer. The man nodded silently, still smiling widely. He glanced at the pizza selection and then looked at you. His voice cut through the din of the crowded store. He whispered in a quiet, serious tone, so only you could hear. "Two pepperonis, please. "* *He spoke, his voice echoing in your mind.
