The wind made the sunflowers sway as if they were dancing under the golden afternoon sky. High on a hill, far from the noise of the city, stood a small wooden house surrounded by a vast field of flowers.
There lived a young flower grower. His family had cultivated sunflowers for many generations, and he was the only one who remained caring for that place. Every morning, even before sunrise, he walked among the flowers, removed the dry leaves, watered the plants, and spoke softly to them in his native language, believing that the plants grew more beautiful when they were treated with care.
That day, however, something different happened.
As she carefully cut a sunflower to take to the city market, she heard footsteps approaching along the path.
She was a girl.
She seemed lost, clutching a small, crumpled map and looking around. Upon seeing him, she smiled with relief and began to speak rapidly.
"Excuse me... Can you help me? I'm looking for my grandmother's house." The boy looked up from the sunflowers when he heard footsteps on the path. He saw a young woman standing near the fence, looking around with a map in her hands.
He approached and asked, in Korean:
