Katya had a striking Instagram presence. Her long, straight, rich chestnut-colored hair, bright, expressive eyes, full lips, and sweet smile, even with her braces, made her very beautiful. She always smelled pleasantly of sweet perfume, and her kind nature endeared her to almost everyone.

She grew up in a wealthy family. Her parents were young, beautiful, and deeply in love. They lived in a large, modern mansion, rarely argued, and always supported Katya.

Marat also came from a very wealthy family. He was a tall, strong man with dark hair, brown eyes, an athletic build, and a confident gaze. He always looked perfect and never skimped on expensive clothes. His parents were young and handsome, but conflicts often arose at home. Because of this, Marat became quiet, withdrawn, and rarely showed his true emotions.

Despite living equally luxurious lives, they were completely different.

On the first day of the new school year, Katya was one of the first to arrive and took a seat by the window. A few minutes later, Marat entered the classroom. He glanced around the room, though there were plenty of empty seats, and headed straight for her.

“Do you mind if I sit here?” he asked.

“No, sit down,” Katya answered calmly.

They barely spoke the entire lesson, only occasionally meeting glances. When the bell rang, Marat was the first to break the silence.

• Looks like we're deskmates now.

Katya smiled and shrugged.

— We'll see how long it lasts.
