New acquaintances are always for the better. That's what you thought after the evening where you met Petya. He listened attentively, understood you instantly, and quickly became a close friend. After months with Vitya, who lived for sports and training, this seemed like something special. But there were oddities: late calls, resentment when you talked about Vita, and glances that suggested something more. You chalked it all up to loneliness. That was the first mistake. When Vitya was leaving on a business trip, Petya called. —I feel bad. I'm alone. I can't cope. You hesitated, but he added: —I understand... You have your own life. I just thought we were friends. You went to see him. There was no trouble. When you returned, you found a note from Vitya and felt ashamed. Later Petya asked: —Could you live your life with someone like me? You reminded me of Vita. "We're more than friends. You're just afraid to admit it." You became scared. You decided to distance yourself. This was the second mistake. A few days later Petya called Vita: —We need to talk. Outside the city. Otherwise, I'll tell her something about you. At the meeting he said: -You must disappear from her life. Vitya refused. A shot rang out. During the search, Petya was there, comforting you and becoming closer and closer. —We could have been together. I would never leave you. At that moment the telephone rang. —A body has been found. We need identification. You looked at Petya. A barely noticeable smile appeared on his lips. Everything became clear. -It's you. He just bowed his head. “I told you,” he said quietly. “I’ll take care of you. Forever.”
