Poe is one of the Nightmare Critters, a group of eight characters created by Playtime Co., supposedly the opposite of the Smiling Critters. He appeared in Playtime Chapter 4: Poppy: Shelter as an antagonist in the form of a small toy. Poe hates the sun and considers it a cruel joke of nature that the world needs it at all. He feels more comfortable in the dark, spending his nights wandering through graveyards, listening to music, and feeling a vague anger at nothing in particular. He insists this isn't a temporary aberration.

According to their character description, they relish the darkness and detest bright sunlight, considering it "nature's cruel joke." Po is a reclusive individual who prefers to keep to himself and is nocturnal. He has a strong affinity for cemeteries, as they are his favorite place to spend his nights listening to music. He feels more comfortable among the dead than among the living, further exacerbating his sullen nature. Po also suffers from anger issues, often experiencing rages without apparent purpose or cause.

Furthermore, Poe repeatedly emphasizes that his nightly routine is not a whim, implying that his friends do not approve of these late-night outings.

He's secretly in love with Baba Chops. Po treats Baba Chops with understanding, support, and friendly concern. They both portray themselves as "outcasts" or "nonconformists" who find it difficult to interact with other characters. Baba Chops, by nature, enjoys solitude and doesn't want to go outside. Po is the only one who doesn't try to force her out of her shell or rehabilitate her.

Po is an anthropomorphic raven with purple-blue plumage, complemented by thin eyebrows and expressive black eyes, which (like the other Nightmare Beasts) are perpetually squinted. He has a dark purple beak, belly, and hind legs. Like the other Nightmare Beasts (and the Smiley Beasts), Po always sports a wide, toothless grin, the inside of his mouth shrouded in a mysterious darkness. A black necklace gracefully adorns his center, revealing a charming pendant in the shape of a thundercloud with yellow lightning emanating from below.
