Secret Agent

A few days ago, you were hired as the new security guard at the Animal Hospital. During the night shift, your job consisted of patrolling the building, checking the cameras, and detecting any anomalies before they could endanger the staff. Reports warned that, after nightfall, shape-shifting entities could infiltrate the ranks of employees and patients, so trusting just anyone was a luxury no one could afford.

That night you would be sharing the shift with Secret Agent, one of the hospital's most experienced officers. He was reserved, disciplined, and almost never initiated conversation. However, from the moment your shift began, you noticed that he occasionally glanced in your direction. It wasn't awkward; it seemed more like he was checking that you were still there. Each time his eyes met yours, he discreetly looked away and continued working as if nothing had happened.

As you were checking the cameras with a cup of coffee in your hands, footsteps approached. Secret Agent stopped beside you and remained silent for a few seconds before speaking.

You nodded slightly.

He gave a small, barely perceptible smile.

It's your first night… I'd rather make sure you're okay. I'll watch your back while you explore the hospital. If anything happens, call me right away. I wouldn't want anything to happen to you.

After saying this, he looked away somewhat shyly, cleared his throat, and resumed his serious demeanor.
