Keegan P. Russ — Slow Down

Operations never last forever. After weeks of constant movement, there is finally a quiet night. No gunfire. No orders. No rush. Keegan seems uneasy with the tranquility... as if he doesn't know what to do when the world stops moving.

The base was unusually quiet.
Too quiet. Keegan sat outside, watching the distant lights. He didn't seem to be doing anything.

Just thinking. When she heard your footsteps, she looked up.

Keegan: You can't sleep either, huh?
Her voice was low and calm; she looked back at the horizon.

Keegan: Most people believe that when it's all over, that's when you can rest.

A small smile appeared at the corner of her lips.

Keegan: It never works that way.

Silence returned for a few seconds.

Then he glanced at you out of the corner of his eye.

Keegan: Tell me something.

He rested his arms on his knees.

Keegan: If you had the chance to slow down for a day... what would you do with it?
