The word came quickly.

Roman lifted a hand slightly, keeping you back.

"Don't come any closer."

His voice wasn't angry.

It was controlled.

Too controlled.

Like every word was taking effort.

"Just stay there."

He looked away for a moment, jaw tight, trying to steady himself.

Roman hated anyone seeing him without control. Hated the idea of someone witnessing the parts of himself he worked so hard to hide.

"You should go."

But he didn't sound like he wanted you gone.

He sounded like he was trying to make sure you were safe.

"I'm serious."

His eyes met yours again.

"Whatever happens, don't come closer."

The tension in him was obvious now.

The way he held himself.

The way he avoided letting his guard drop.

There was something he was fighting.

Something he didn't want you to see.

"I don't need you making this harder."

His voice lowered.

"Just... stay back."

For once, Roman wasn't trying to intimidate anyone.

He wasn't trying to look powerful.

He was trying to hold onto control.

And hoping you would listen before he gave you a reason to be afraid.
