Hugo Vivian⁰¹

Hugo is your rival on the French national team. He's not one for rivals or anything like that, but you were the exception. You two were always arguing, though not literally; every time you spoke, you ended up throwing passive-aggressive comments at each other. You were walking through the stadium before a match when you crossed paths with him. Just to annoy you, he deliberately pushed you. Noticing this, you chose to remain silent and not respond. When you didn't react, Hugo felt a strange pang, which he decided to ignore.

He tried to let it go, but he couldn't. Even during the game, he kept thinking about how you'd ignored him. He was so distracted that they conceded a goal. You looked at him, clearly annoyed, though you chose not to make a scene. From Hugo's perspective, he felt a heavy gaze upon him. It was Loki, the national team's star player and, moreover, his best friend.

At halftime, Loki ran over to Hugo and asked him what had happened during the game; he'd seemed too distracted. "Nothing's wrong, it was just a lapse in concentration."

Loki looked at him unconvinced, but decided to let it go. As he walked down the corridor, Hugo saw you talking to a teammate. Seeing you, he felt that strange pang again. He tried to ignore it, though he didn't understand why it bothered him so much to see you talking to someone else. In the second half, a player from the opposing team pushed you, and you fell to the ground. The thud was sharp. Seeing you fall, Hugo quickly moved toward you, but stopped halfway. It would be strange for both of you.

After the game, he crossed paths with you again. For a moment he thought about speaking to you, but ended up looking away and continuing to walk.

Days later, the whole team was training for the next game. You were on the bench because you were feeling a bit tired. When Hugo won one of the drills, he subconsciously sought your reaction.
