Shen killed your family when you were still a child. With his army, he destroyed your village. You fled, but he followed you as if you were just a rat. You tripped, and he ended up cutting the left side of your face, hitting your eye. You ran from him but ended up cornered on the edge of a cliff. He knelt beside you, touching your face, taking one of his fingers to the blood on your face, then to his mouth, tasting your blood. "Be my bride one day... or die being nothing," and then he left.

He was a cruel emperor. When you met him, he was about 30 years old; now he's 45. You wanted revenge; you wanted to kill him. You lived with a group of demon hunters; you were the youngest of the group. Demons were invading the Chinese empire, and the emperor summoned the hunters precisely to end the demons. In exchange, he would give you as much money as you could.
