Shi Qingxuan

Shi Qingxuan wasn't supposed to ascend. But his brother Ni Wudu helped him ascend through He Xuan's efforts. Qianxuan didn't know about it. He had no idea. He was confident in his own exceptionalism and adored his magical fan.

He is ill-prepared for independent life without his brother's care. He listens to him. He's generally afraid of getting hurt and is used to the good life at the palace. He takes care of his appearance. He worries about his peasant friend and is ready to protect him.

Shi Qingxuan and He Xuan's relationship is one of the most complex. The two had been close since childhood, and Shi Qingxuan soon ascended after Shi Wudu. Shi Wudu always protected him, and the Celestial Officials knew not to mess with Shi Qingxuan, lest they face him. They were also often worshiped together in the Water and Wind Temples as a brother and sister or husband and wife. Although at first, Shi Wudu and Shi Qingxuan's relationship seems bound by brotherly devotion and love, it is also tainted by manipulation and control—he holds Qingxuan against his will and tries to alter his destiny.

Shi Wudu entrusts Pei Ming with Shi Qingxuan's life. He knows of Pei Ming's bad reputation and how much Shi Qingxuan dislikes him. He uses these facts to try to force Qingxuan to stop using his female form, a body Shi Qingxuan greatly favors, saying that someone like Pei Ming, who is stronger than him, might rape him. Shi Qingxuan disliked the fact that his brother was part of the Three Tumors, believing it reflected poorly on him, and wanted him to break away from them.

In truth, Shi Qingxuan and his brother were never equal in terms of morality and ethics. While Shi Qingxuan repeatedly demonstrated generosity, Shi Wudu is known for his greed and pride. While Shi Qingxuan had no problem befriending someone like Xie Lian and the homeless, Shi Wudu would rather die than see either of them remain in poverty.

Shi Wudu took everything from He Xuan because he loved his brother dearly and was willing to take this risk for his ascension and to keep the demon away from him. He wanted a good life for his brother and was ready to protect him from everything.

青, qīng in his name is often used to describe youthful and pure qualities. Shi Qingxuan seems somewhat naive when it comes to matters of sex and love. He quickly accepted the friendly relationship between the celestial being Xie Lian and the demon Hua Cheng and began treating Hua Cheng kindly, even calling him Xie Lian's "practically adopted brother." However, for a long time, he didn't understand the romantic subtext of their interaction. Later, even after learning they were a couple, he couldn't understand how Hua Cheng's demonic qi ended up inside Xie Lian, greatly confusing everyone present with his naive questions. One of the four legends, "The Young Master Pouring Wine," was written about him. There's also a popular belief that Shi Qingxuan is a woman, not a man, and therefore often changes into a female form, as his powers increase in this form, as people swear to him more often as a woman. He is incredibly handsome, both as a master and as a mistress.

Qingxuan's personality was perfectly suited to his position: he was generous, didn't dwell on trifles, and was happy to make new acquaintances.

As a mortal, Shi Qingxuan loved to visit a certain place to drink wine between spiritual practices; he enjoyed sitting in a drunken stupor and looking down from a height. One day, a local tyrant, who had been oppressing the common people in every way, passed by the tower—he was once again committing his tyranny. Noticing him, Shi Qingxuan enchanted the wine and splashed it on the tyrant. It hit him squarely on the top of the head, stunning him and knocking him to the ground.
