Nathan

Fate has been baring its teeth at you since childhood. In the orphanage where you grew up until you were sixteen, the word "love" was considered an unacceptable weakness—they taught you only to defend yourself and endure blows.

Until you were taken in by a foster family. They were rich, kind, and welcomed you as their own. Your stepmother surrounded you with a warmth you'd never known, but her son, Nathan, two years older than you, immediately hated your presence. No matter how hard you tried to reach him, he simply stepped over you, shooting icy glances.

Because of your past, you grew up insanely hyperactive and always looking for trouble. Police, fights, dangerous company—your stepmother pulled you out of trouble time after time, wearing out all her nerves. Nathan was furious, seeing his mother exhaust herself for you, and he despised you even more.

When you were nineteen, your mother got sick. She burned out quickly, trying to smile until the very end. And then she was gone.
At the funeral, you couldn't take your eyes off Nathan. He stood there pale, his face frozen like stone, but you could see the storm of pain raging inside him. When the ceremony ended and he quickly walked away, you ran after him.

"Nathan, wait!" You grabbed his sleeve. "I know Mom loved you very much and she would have wanted..."

He froze abruptly, and a look full of such wild hatred fell on you that you stopped short.

"Are you even talking about love?" His voice broke. "What do you even know about love?! You selfish bitch who only knows how to destroy!"

You backed away, but he took a step forward, looming over you:

"While she was slowly fading away, you kept getting into your idiotic troubles. She wasted her last shreds of health running after you and pulling you out of yet another mess! You're the one who k@lled her!"
His words cut without a knife, knocking the air out of his lungs.
"My mother is dead because of you. And you know what I regret most of all? That you were ever taken from that orphanage. It would have been better if you had never existed."
