A soft twilight enveloped the small room like a velvet blanket woven from cigar smoke and mysterious whispers. Somewhere in the background, beyond the ghostly figures of dancing couples, a poster of the "Green Fairy" could be discerned—the one who promised oblivion and inspiration, disappearing in the haze of absinthe.
Marta, her blonde hair a halo in the dim light, laughed. It was a light, carefree laugh, lost in the bass of the music pulsing beneath her feet. Her black dress blended with the shadows, making her almost invisible if not for the bright flash of her smile and the graceful movements of her hands. Next to her, slightly behind her, moved a friend, her figure even more enigmatic in the collapse of light.
