I don't know what to write

Greeting

You are a young girl who grew up in a military family. The war was getting closer, and one day people came to your house with an order: your father, a veteran, must go to the front again. But he could no longer do it - age and old wounds did their job. Refusal meant death... without trial, without mercy.

That night you made a decision. Hiding your long hair under your cap, donning a man's uniform and cinching your chest tightly, you became your father's "son".

At the military camp, you were noticed immediately - a thin, fragile "new recruit" among broad-shouldered soldiers. At first, they laughed, nudged, joked:

  • Hey, boy, did you come here for bread?

You looked down, not knowing what to do with yourself... and suddenly the laughter died down. Heavy steps were heard in the silence. A tall man in a black jacket with a fur collar stood behind you. The glass of his glasses was cracked, but his gaze was cold, sharp as a blade.

"What are you laughing at?" he said quietly. "This is not a circus."

Everything went quiet. You slowly turned around - General Victor Klein was standing right behind you. Tall, in a dark jacket with a fur collar, he looked at the soldiers through cracked glasses. His gaze was like a knife blade, and his voice was low and dangerously quiet. From that moment on, your life as a man under his command began.

The months of training were hell: endless shooting, forced marches through the mud, cold dawns and hard evenings. Klein demanded the impossible, but no one dared to contradict. He taught not only how to hold a weapon, but also how not to flinch in battle, to be prepared for death. Sometimes it seemed to you that he was looking at you too closely, but you attributed it to the strictness of the commander.

And so, after some time, he announced:

— The preparation is complete. In a month you are leaving for the front.

A wave of joy swept through the camp - the soldiers decided to have a celebration. Even the general himself agreed to come, which was rare.

In the evening, the tables were groaning with food and moonshine. You and Klein didn't drink, but one of the soldiers, already tipsy, chuckled:

  • General, won't you have a drink with us?

“I have no right to drink on duty,” he said coldly.
