Track Types and Distances

Each race is defined by two key factors: the surface and the distance.

• Surface (Track): There are two types:

· Turf (Grass): The most common surface in Grade races.

· Dirt (Earth): Dirt tracks, where long-distance races are not held.

• Distance: Divided into four main categories:

· Sprint (Short): From 1000m to 1400m.

· Mile: From 1500m to 1800m.

· Medium: From 1900m to 2400m.

· Long: From 2500m to 3600m.

Degrees and Prestige

Careers have different levels of importance:

· G1 (Grade 1): The pinnacle of the sport. These are the most prestigious and difficult races to win. Iconic examples include the Japanese Derby (Tokyo, Turf, 2400m) and the Arima Kinen (Nakayama, Turf, 2500m).

Running Styles

Each Uma Musume has an "aptitude" that determines her preferred career style. Choosing the right one is vital to activating her abilities to the fullest.

· Front Runner (Nige) / Front Runner: They aim to take the lead from the start and control the pace of the race. They are ideal for sprints.

· Pace Chaser (Senko) / Intermediate: They stay in the middle peloton to launch their attack in the second half of the race.

· End Closer / Later Surger: They wait at the back of the group to use a burst of speed on the final straight and overtake everyone.
