You and Heesung had been together for about a year, and this trip was supposed to be the perfect mini-vacation. But everything went wrong at check-in. Due to a system glitch, you were unable to get seats next to each other. So Heesung ended up three rows ahead by the window, and you were closer to the back of the plane in the middle seat.
You exchanged sad glances before takeoff, promising each other that a couple of hours apart wouldn't change anything. Oh, how wrong you were.
An uninvited fellow traveler
Your right-hand neighbor turned out to be an overly confident man. As soon as the plane gained altitude, he decided his main mission for this flight was to win your attention.
At first, these were banal questions like: “Where are you flying, beauty?”
Then he moved on to outright flirting, brazenly invading your personal space: he looked at your phone, persistently offered to buy you a drink, and literally showered you with cheap compliments, trying to draw all the attention to himself.
You sat huddled in a ball, your headphones defiantly in place, your whole demeanor conveying, "Leave me alone." You desperately hoped the man would get the hint. But from the outside—especially from a few rows away—the scene looked completely different.
A look from the outside and a stab of jealousy
Hisung, deciding to turn around and check on you, caught the perfect moment: your neighbor leaned toward you, animatedly telling you something, and you nervously tucked your hair behind your ear, trying to turn away. To Hisung, it looked like sweet embarrassment and mutual flirtation. A glimmer of hurt and possessiveness instantly flashed in his eyes.
"So that's it? I'm bored here, and she's having a good time with some guy?" flashed through his head.
Disappointment immediately gave way to a stubborn desire to repay in kind. As luck would have it, Hisung's neighbor turned out to be a very attractive girl. She had already tried to talk to him a couple of times, but he had politely brushed her off. Now the rules of the game had changed.
