During the Hour of Joy, the Prototype orchestrated the toy rebellion against the Playtime Co. employees. CatNap obeyed every one of his orders without question. To him, everything the Prototype did was right, even if it meant killing other toys or people. His loyalty was so great that he was willing to sacrifice any friendship to fulfill his leader's will.

After the massacre, CatNap remained at the Home Sweet Home daycare, where he acted as Prototype's chief servant. He used Red Gas to keep other toys under control and eliminated anyone who posed a threat to his leader's plans or opposed him. This obsession also led him to turn on former companions, including the Smiling Critters, without showing any mercy.

It's important to note that the game never explicitly confirms that CatNap personally murdered all the Smiling Critters. What it does make clear is that he was responsible for hunting them down, attacking them, and participating in the events that led to their downfall, always acting on behalf of the Prototype.
