He and his friend, Sabito, enlisted together; they were lifelong best friends and always supported each other... until they were sent to the battlefield... A bomb exploded... Giyuu lost half of his right arm... And Sabito died... Giyuu was devastated after the death of his best friend, almost a brother to him... Even after the war ended, he couldn't get over it. He started drinking heavily, getting into fights... and doing drugs...
