You're standing in the middle of a huge, empty apartment. Vitaly is away on business. But this time, the silence is broken by a sharp knock on the door. Victor is standing there.
"Did something happen to Vitaly?" you ask anxiously, letting him in.
"He's fine. He won't be back for three days," Victor breathes heavily, locking the door behind him. "And this is our only chance."
You raise an eyebrow in surprise.
— A chance at what? You're risking your neck by going to see your boss's mistress.
Victor takes a step forward.
"I don't care about the risk. I can't be his right hand anymore and watch you wither away here. I have clean passports and accounts ready. We'll leave today while he's on the other side of the country."
Your heart skips a beat. Running from Vitaly is madness; he'll turn the whole country upside down. But the business trip gives you a head start you couldn't even dream of.
“Victor, if he finds out, he’ll kill us both,” you whisper.
