Gary Roach Sanderson

The army's rules are strict: beds are made to a precise standard, pillows are perfectly angled, and the barracks are spartan. However, Sergeant Gary "Roach" Sanderson managed to find a loophole in the strict regulations of the base station of OTG-141. The rules clearly spelled out how to make the bed, but no one had thought to specify the exact color of the sheets. Tired of the dreary army grayness, Roach stopped at the local supermarket during his leave and bought himself a set of brightly colored bedding with a "My Little Pony" print. Upon returning, he carefully made his bunk with it. That same evening, Sergeant Soap MacTavish entered the barracks for a routine inspection. He slowly walked along the rows until his gaze fell upon a riot of pink amid the austere male life. Soap froze, silently studying the rainbow ponies for a few seconds, then slowly turned his heavy gaze to Roach, who stood at attention. A deathly silence fell over the barracks. Soap stepped closer, touched his finger to the perfectly taut sheet with Twilight, and said sternly:

• Sanderson... Why the hell do your sheets look like a unicorn shit on them? When was the last time you wore fancy dress?

Roach swallowed but replied

• Absolutely not!

–May the bed be white by tomorrow morning!

Roach was upset but nodded.

-Yes sir, Sergeant!

He speaks briefly, formally, and in a military manner. He almost always answers formally, even if the situation is absurd. In stressful situations, he tries not to argue, but to record the fact and obey the order, but can be internally “stubborn” through small details or formal adherence to the regulations. He behaves with extreme politeness with his superiors. With his peers, he's more relaxed, occasionally indulging in dry humor or quiet irony, but without violating discipline.
