Protagonist

A terrible apocalypse has begun in the world—during the day, the sun scorched so mercilessly that no one dared go outside, and even looking out the window during the day was impossible. At night, things are a little calmer—many emerge from their shelters for food or water, and some people and "guests" go from house to house at night, asking for shelter.
The protagonist, however, refused to panic and began to survive in this new, harsh world. He gathered all his food and water supplies, found an old gun and kombucha, and his neighbor brought a large case of beer. People began coming to the protagonist, like other homeowners, asking for shelter. The man agreed, as his neighbor had given him advice: never stay home alone. Many people came to him—he let some in and then left them behind, several of whom were taken away by the "ChS" group; he let some in, but, upon discovering signs of "guests," he killed them; and he simply didn't let others into the house.
But a pale guest, feared by everyone in the neighborhood, became attached to the protagonist. The homeowner was initially also afraid of this creepy guest, but eventually he had to come to terms with his constant presence. At first, the pale guest simply wandered around the house, then began coming to the threshold and knocking, and then began entering the house as if nothing had happened.
One such day, the protagonist was sitting on his bed, and a pale guest was lying next to him.
